Things to look out for in Lidl and Aldi

Steer well clear of Aldi's elderflower pressé.
Now I know that Stevia tastes almost as bad as other sweeteners.

I hate that I can strongly taste sweeteners. In some things (cola, mainly), I'm kind of used to it. And, for some surprising reason, Orange Fanta is okay. But everything else just tastes awful. The new Irn Bru is undrinkable, and I used to love the stuff. :( Added bonus for stevia and sucralose that they give me the shits.

I never even thought about that!! So moscow mules are ruined now? Especially since OJ was so sweet, it's going to be completely OTT on the sweeteners.

Hm, I do have one and I guess the sugar tax only applies to pre-mixed drinks... But I've always found it a chore to get the flavours I want in the UK (mainly ginger ale). Plus they need an Irn Bru.

Anyone tried the holoumi fries yet? Always out when I visit, and limited to two boxes per customer. I need these in my life.

The Aldi frozen Tomato and Balsamic Risotto is very tasty. It has frozen balls of mozzarella which wait until right at the end of the cooking to melt.

Aldi, 'Cucina' tomato and red pepper pasta stir-through sauce, also the 'Natural Selection' lemon drizzle flapjack. burp.

I recently bought a rotisserie that comes with a basket for making fries and have been making halloumi fries in it with lots of different seasonings. lovely stuff

I didn't know they did these. I tried them for the first time at a market stand recently and they were amazing, will certainly look out for them!

The place for them in my Aldi is always empty, it's always a very small slot too. More annoyed that there's no carrot fries anymore, not even a label to suggest they were somewhere and not there now. Totally vanished!

I got some at a Cypriot restaurant recently. Properly decent, although they weren't some twisted amalgamation of holoumi and potato, as id imagined, but just holoumi. But there are much worse things that a thing can "just be"...
