The Reform UK Party (latest nigel farage vehicle) is it to be laughed at or not

You can't become PM just by having loads of money thrown at you, surely.
We he can't buy tv advert slots here like he could in america. But he could buy internet ads. I doubt its as simple as throwing money at reform though.

Crossposted from the Russian oligarchs thread:

What with the talk of Musk financing Farage and Reform, this survey seems timely:

More grim news, sadly.

Reform UK has unveiled billionaire property developer - and former Conservative donor - Nick Candy as its treasurer, with the job of raising big money to fight the next general election.

It is the latest in a series of announcements by Nigel Farage's party aimed at showing it is serious about winning power.

The property tycoon was close to former Prime Minister Boris Johnson, donating more than £270,000 to the party under his leadership and attending the then-PM's wedding.

Now he says Farage could win the next general election - and is promising to raise "tens of millions" for Reform UK, telling journalists he will donate a "seven figure sum" of his own cash as well.

I wish people who vote for Reform would stop and ask themselves why the likes of Candy and Musk want to pour vast sums of money into the party because it sure ain't to help the likes of us ordinary people.
It sure ain't.
Given how effectively the established, major parties have collectively nurtured and embedded neoliberalism in our society and economy, you'd have to be a very special type of psychopath to fund an insurgent party determined to accelerate those processes.

oh the people who vote for reform are only interested in protecting their own interest the worst part of the tory party basically .. don't forget they either don't care
or feel that well off white men have not had a big enough go at running things

I hope we never do. I'm a disabled woman. I don't want to think about what he has in store for people like me.
Anyone unable to work because of disability or ill health would be in for a rough time under a Reform government and I fear they'd adopt the American welfare system which is pretty brutal.

Like you, I hope we never find out.

You only have to look at how many people with intellectual disabilities are are locked up, abused and neglected to see the callous disregard in which they're already held in Britain.
