The Home Office and UK government policy concerning asylum seekers/Rwanda deportations

At least King Canute was doing the stop the tide thing to show that kings were not a power over god. This lot are only going to prove that they are cruel manipulators with bad slogans

Fucksake. It'll be down to legal challenges now. How low we have sunk.

Where would the legal challenges now come from?

Popcorn out, as this doomed bill drowns in the real world. Just like the people it condems to misery. Schadenfrude is all that remains. Horrible really, but while Braverman and the ERG rule the roost what else is there? It's going to be a netherworld for asylum seekers facing years stuck on kid unfriendly barges.

I don't know what any of the fuck I just wrote

I mean it's happening on our shores. We don't want it, several places have rejected it, but the fuckers did it any way. The conditions, apparently there's on shore time and some tolerability if you believe it. It's a matter of time. But basically Britain doesn't accept asylum.

I just wonder whether they will ever get out. It's meant as deterrence. They'll come out blinking into the daylight in 2040? There's no urgency to process asylum. They warehouse them.

It can have escaped few people's attention, the ongoing embarrassment that is the Bibby Stockholm.

Firstly it should never have been procured in the first place.

Then the FBU described it as a floating Grenfell waiting to happen but the government went ahead and started accommodating asylum seekers there anyway.

Then it was revealed that a man who is being treated for TB was going to be moved there despite his Dr's protestations that it could be a public health disaster.

Lastly it has now emerged that Legionella bacteria has been found in water samples taken aboard and the Home Office have been forced to take everyone off and house them in hotels.

The only people that are currently benefitting from this awful fiasco are the scumbag that is leasing it to the UK government and the people that own the freehold where it is currently moored who will doubtless be receiving a tidy sum in rent:

There are calls from senior vermin for Braverman's resignation.

One can only hope that there is yet further major embarrassment.

This is just disgusting:

Adult asylum seekers shouldn't be put in jail, let alone children. 😡
Data from 55 councils under freedom of information laws shows that of 1,416 age assessments carried out over the five years to April 2023 by specialist social workers on age-disputed asylum seekers, 809 were found to be children. In 10 councils, all of the young people assessed were found to be children.

Because Braveman has refused to meet with the FBU over safety concerns with the Bibby Stockholm they have issued a legal challenge:

Her response:

Must be all part of the "blob" of course, a vague but convenient catch-all label like "woke".

But oh yeah, lots of people have been on the barge before so we know it's safe. 😡

Walked past a hotel that’s used for asylum seekers on my way to this pub. It’s next to the A30 (a busy dual carriageway) in a fairly grim urban location and is the sort of room factory that would usually be used for people staying a night before a flight. So hardly a place where you might choose to stay at long term

It was previously used as a quarantine hotel.

The car park is the “exercise yard” surrounded by the sort of temporary panelled wall fencing that surrounds building sites (the sort which has adverts promoting the new housing) - opaque and 10 foot high.

Not much of a life. Depressing enough to walk past let alone it be your lived experience

Shambolic is looking back at this in the rear view mirror. There surely is no way this can be allowed to continue? We're openly starving people now?
