The dubious journalism of the BBC's Laura Kuenssberg

Kuenssberg is a prolific tweeter on top of running around being one of the most visible and evidently hard-working journalists in this Brexit saga, so I'll give her the benefit of the doubt on this one. Not defending what she or KGM tweeted because it is still irrelevant to the story - but I think it was more just a hasty update rather than some agenda-driven statement to frame the guy and get an angle on the story.

Benefit of the doubt is still exceptionally thoughtless and unprofessional though isn't it. Someone in her position should be better than that even if she's not sitting there trying to start a right-wing pile on.

FWIW I think she does think she's broadly 'neutral' in that BBC way. I don't think she's better for it though tbh.

I'm currently bedridden so I've been glued to twitter through boredom. There is a growing number of people claiming he was miked up and the whole thing was staged. They even have a grainy photo of his belt loop as proof. I've seen a couple of them wondering if the baby even exists. It's so horrible I can't look away.

She wrote 'here he is', she got the info from Guido Fawkes, a rightwing shithouse of a website. She then re-tweeted that info, naming an individual who criticised Johnson for his ludicrous claim. In that context what benefit of the doubt does she deserve?

That isn't journalism, that is utter shithousery.

Alright fair enough. I actually hadn't seen the 'Here He Is' tweet. Only that she mentioned he was a labour activist in the other one, which seemed at best irrelevant, but I put it down to her just spewing out facts on the fly as she found them out.

The Imam on the BBC, Johnson's neighbours, this fella in the hospital - anyone who makes a senior politician feel awkward risks getting targeted & identified by Guido & suffer the consequent scrutiny/pressure/risk as they become the story. Free speech with a price.

Everyone at the BBC, including people with no editorial input or responsibility, has been gifted a doorstop of a manual (hard copy) that explains in enormous detail the editorial guidelines.

I don't have one to hand, but I wonder how many of them are breached by calling out some random guy's personal Twitter.

This wondering is my own personal view and not that of the BBC, etc

Tweeting isn't work.

Also, working hard is worse than slacking off if you're shit at your job.

Kuenssberg's Twitter profile opens with a 'my views not the BBC's' disclaimer, and yet her handle is 'BBClauraK' and she has BBC PR drones leaping to her defence when her tweets piss people off :hmm:

I watched this unpackaged in real time on twitter.

LK tweeted about an awkward encounter with a parent of a patient

Guido flagged up he was a labour activist and LK immediately banged out a “gotcha” twitter that he was a labour activist.

Then LK found the guys twitter an basically tweeted a “Taa, Daaa” here is a link to his profile to her million plus followers

Right wing twitter piled in with ridiculous it’s a socialist set up. Left wing twitter pile in with LK has doxed and triggered a dogpile on a father upset about his child’s treatment.

LK seems more often than not to have Boris’s back, down playing and smoothing impressions out. She certainly hasn’t jumped in to flag up any obvious Tory activists on social/MSmedia

On balance she has a pro Tory anti Corbyn bias

LK and the BBC are not impartially report facts that are negative to Boris and more importantly potentially positive Corbyn Labour stories

She has been found guilty of anti Corbyn bias already

BBC Trust says Laura Kuenssberg report on Corbyn was inaccurate

MSM is obviously anti Corbyn and this has been statistically proved

Media 'persistently' biased against Jeremy Corbyn, academic study finds

The majority of the country are reading highly biased anti Corbyn/labour media reports dressed up as fact.

LK will bash the left rather than focusing on the real story of Government failings every opportunity

And if all that’s passed anyone by on here, fuck them too!

Whole thing stinks. Why would a father of a sick child be on a children's ward?

I still cant get over the Leeds incident where she became a "convenient" distraction when that guy told him to get back to Brussels.

I've just done some searching and that part has been left out of the video on the bbc site but is still on there youtube channel:

Laura is on the verge of being washed up, knows it, and is working hard to keep her relevance.

Washed up how? She's so deep in the media core that she's got jobs for life even in the unlikely event the BBC drop her.

Her position depends on her having good contacts within govt and opposition. She has excellent Tory contacts, good ones with the right of the LP but none, fucking none with the Labour left.
I speculate Labour will win the next GE. Bye bye Laura.
