That image of the drowned father and daughter at US border

My concern is that when it does spread to more mainstream discussion do we then end up with censorship of photos due to peoples morality, thus a dumbing down of the news? I suspect we do.
We already have so much censorship ostensibly on the basis of taste that I think a deeper, more socially aware examination of how images are used can only be good. Nobody I've seen has objected to the pictures because they were shocking, it has always been the way that they were used and the pervasive perspective that that represents. A lot of the people talking about it are photojournalists with under-represented backgrounds - women, minorities, working class.

I find it kind of ironic that Trumpists are in meltdown over the pics mocking Ivanka but stuff like this is all just grand :(
Secret 'border patrol Facebook group' investigated

US officials are investigating a secret Facebook group where border patrol members allegedly posted racist and sexist jokes about migrants.

The private group was called "I'm 10-15" and had about 9,500 members, including former and current border patrol agents, ProPublica reported.

Some posts mocked migrant deaths, while others targeted Latino members of Congress, ProPublica said.
