We already have so much censorship ostensibly on the basis of taste that I think a deeper, more socially aware examination of how images are used can only be good. Nobody I've seen has objected to the pictures because they were shocking, it has always been the way that they were used and the pervasive perspective that that represents. A lot of the people talking about it are photojournalists with under-represented backgrounds - women, minorities, working class.My concern is that when it does spread to more mainstream discussion do we then end up with censorship of photos due to peoples morality, thus a dumbing down of the news? I suspect we do.
