I'm sure I read recently that the US is the biggest food producer (or exporter) in the world. But here they can't feed their own citizens. They can't even blame the IMF or world bank like other countries suffering food insecurity can.

The food chain is being hit from both ends ...the poverty , in cant buy it ....to virus reduced (death) " human capital reserves" in production and distribution , so food is rotting on the fields

The US is definitely the biggest exporter by dollar value, but they are far from being the biggest producer overall. By number of calories produced, it's no surprise that China and India are 1 and 2

I normally go to the food banks, because well, I'm poor. Anyways, they are delivering to my house now, because of covid-19, anyways, the food has gone way down. I used to get some meat, little, but some. Now it's not even basic stuff.
