Perhaps my favourite thing about this nonsense of an article is the very, very slight admission that it was Braverman (and the ilk of Harry Miller) who set up the new system around reporting / recording NCHIs.
Sadly though it never manages to come to the conclusion that they might therefore actually bear some responsibility for cops enforcing that system, never mind the complete failure to create any kind of bespoke series of offences around social media and of course it is never mentioned that the reason why Essex Police's statistics appear so bad may well be because fourteen years of Tory rule saw significant budget cuts, closed police stations, fewer cops and police staff etc etc.
Also, given that its Pearson and her history of hypocrisy, one would perhaps not be surprised if this Kafkaesque intrusion into freedom of speech was related to her demanding that other people's freedom of speech (over Gaza probably) should be curtailed.
