Bloody good showing. It must be the highest ever placing for spoilt ballots.

Apart from the Psychedelic Movement and the enigmatic Olga Childs, the other candidates all appear to be different flavours of far right.

The psych candidate had, as well as ‘stop the covid mania’, put Tommy Robinson into the House of Lords as part of his manifesto. And Childs seems to be a putin apologist. So all of them, really.Apart from the Psychedelic Movement and the enigmatic Olga Childs, the other candidates all appear to be different flavours of far right.

It surely has, but they only started including spoiled ballots in turnout figures relatively recently.
Otherwise I reckon the 1940 Middleton and Prestwich by-election would have been one example. The only two candidates were Conservative with 32036 votes and British Union of Fascists with 418 votes. The number of spoiled papers was not recorded.

Add up all the votes for the many and varied nazi crackpots on the ticket and it's not a great look for the 'City' of Southend.
Small constituency too, over 10,000 fewer voters than mine.

Getting over 100 spoiled ballots is incredibly rare and even less common forty other fifty years ago, so I’d, sadly, suspect that the fash would have beaten them then.

Such a bizarre election / result, with the poll basically looking like an Ashes Test Match score card, with Tory Anne Firth as the Australians, and the Bassett's all sorts of eleven right wing loons as England.
