Sleaford Mods

I dont think it's that odd is it? He seems to have a fairly ambivalent attitude to their new found fame.

I can imagine discovering their fanbase is entirely middle-aged liberals might be a source of some frustration when you make music like that too.

Just been listening to the Eagulls who are apparently another angry band, one of their songs is 'council house blues', but I wonder if its all show?

Yeah I might be up for that..... its half term, so sleaford mods saturday, off to rotterdam for a few days in half term, bangface in rotterdam on halloween and then home sunday. Winning!

Such a great band... I do a show on our local community radio station and was feeling a bit frustrated I couldn't play any of their stuff due to the swearing (our station is on it's last warning from Ofcom for playing inappropriate content) but I found a track with no swearing in it: The Corgi

Anyone driving to this (Sleaford Mods, Sheffield, This Thursday 10th) and back same night? AAND can return trip me nottm centre-ish? then reply/pm, 'cos I'll buy ALL the vehicles fuel!
[because since he/they got famous, he/they have been angrier each time[that I've seen em on wwww.internet],
_ And it's a long time until September)

from S/M's FB page, good offer.

We've decided to play a load of dates around the UK in places you wouldn't find the kiss arses wanting to play cos they want the bubbly and not the cheese and tomatoes sandwiches.

Dates in the following towns cities will be confirmed with full details shortly......

Wakefield, Liverpool, Stockton-on-Tees, York, Scunthorpe, Oxford, Southampton, Colchester, Milton Keynes,
Stoke-on-Trent, Hitchin, Ramsgate, St Alban, Reading and Kingston-upon-Hull

good people...

not sure why Liverpool is in there though.

btw, anyone who likes S/M's will probably like this working class poet from Donny
GAV ROBERTS
Gav Roberts is a poet from ROTHERHAM. Imagine that, ROTHERHAM. He has performed at a variety of festivals and events and is one of the founding members of Rotherham poetry collective ‘Romp’. He was recently commissioned by Off The Shelf Festival to write a poem marking the centenary of stainless steel in Sheffield called ‘Spitting In The Steel’ which is available on youtube.

yeh i'm off!
Ha the comments on that Guardian article are so laughable. I just don't understand why people get jealous when a band does quite well (it's hardy like they're millionaires or ever will be), and feel the need to snidely slate them anonymously... as though anyone is interested! It is so patent that it is jealousy too.

Got tickets for the 100 Club in October.

Pissed off that I've missed every other London date they have done for the last two years...

My guess is that they'll be all over the 2014 end of year lists and 2015 will be big big big for them. Starting with this:

That gig exceeded my expectations by quite a long way. Im left with the feeling that most people should give up music because these guys are doing it better and I only get that feeling about twice a decade... not sure how they can accomplish that with their setup but that's how I felt. Hype? Well hype normally predisposes me to hate a band so I don't think it's that. Everyone needs to see this band at the moment, it won't last forever!

Superb gig last night I agree - glad to have seen them somewhere small as I can't think it will work well when they start playing the bigger venues like the electric ballroom.

Really enjoyed the support band The Lowest Form too - crackin' bit of noisy hardcore.

Top night!

Yep the support was great too! The drummer runs a great punk distro. Also good on the venue for somehow air conditioning the place to be very pleasant.
