Sleaford Mods

Is that some bloke nicking his pint at 2.56? One guy shakes his hand, the other whips round his back and has it away with half a lager :D

one half of the 'mods carried on fairly heroically, fair play to that man.

"Ello. I would like to apologise to those that came to see us in Brighton last night. It's been really busy this past few months and old demons got the better of me. It's no excuse and it's not on. Really sorry. Jason"

He was "snorting coke on someone's sofa in south London" apparently.

Well first there was the support act which I thought was very good. Talking about ripping off The Fall and shagging in Aldi.

Then someone came on to say the gig was off. I thought he was taking the piss. Then a very drunk Atilla the Stockbroker, who was there as a punter, came on stage to save the day. After he did his stint I heard someone bribe the soundman with beer he'd let Andrew play some tunes.

In the meantime someone else came on stage to say Jason was "snorting coke on someones sofa in south london".

People kept buying the only half of SMs to turn up drinks and he was fucking trashed by the end. He ended up chucking CDs into the crowd (about 30 of us). One smack my other (sober) half in the face.

The tickets are valid for the next gig.

Listening to Austerity Dogs now. A punk Pitman vs Suicide vibe. Ace.
Shit name though. I avoided them for ages cos I thought they were a bunch of poseurs in Paul Weller haircuts (Blagsta :) ). Like the Merton Parkas.

Sleaford Mods have a tune on this sevenandahalf hours Riot Season charity comp, out as of yesterday.
Other acts like Acid Mother Temple, Shit and Shine and Sly and the Family Drone have also contributed, some of it exclusive material.
All in the name of Peter Kemp, one of the best music critics out there, imo.

Just having a listen to this, while there's a lot of stuff that's not my bag there's plenty that is.

Riot season are an awesome label mini - you can usually assume anything they put out is going to be great.

Loads of them bands are playing supernormal festival this year too btw ;)

they are coming to Cardiff
to a decent small ish venue
SLEAFORD MODS have to be one of the most opinion dividing bunch around right now with their John Copper Clarke meets The Streets talky-rap observational style. You'll love or hate them and if you love them you'll definitely want to be at their Moon Club gig 7.9.14 [tickets on sale here £7]
here being Spillers Records

I saw the other day that they are supporting The Specials in Wolves in October. Seems a bit of an odd choice (unless some promoter saw no further than the word 'mods). It makes the ridiculous £43 ticket price a bit more value, but still probably out of my price range :(
