no, I just made the joke. You made the joke thinking Catholics/Christians would be okay with it?
re: the joke - Brand was the target of that joke, not Jesus.
I can’t believe I’m having to explain this to a grown-up.
This is the ‘joke’. Wasn’t even a joke ffs. Just a line referring to Brand’s overall grubbiness. But even Jesus washed his dick every now and then.
I'm going to pray for youno, I just made the joke.
you probably actually mean you find some christians problematic, not christianity as a philosophy, right?is it a bad thing to have issues with Christianity anyway? What’s wrong with disagreeing with ideas you find problematic?
A little of column A A little of column Byou probably actually mean you find some christians problematic, not christianity as a philosophy, right?
No there are issues with the philosophy as well ,but then thats true of most religions and at the end of the day people being evil dicks is because of them being evil dicks irrespective of their religion.you probably actually mean you find some christians problematic, not christianity as a philosophy, right?
Not me. Some individual Christians are fine but christianity is utter bollocks.you probably actually mean you find some christians problematic, not christianity as a philosophy, right?
No. I was quite clear.you probably actually mean you find some christians problematic, not christianity as a philosophy, right?
Eh?Love your neighbor as yourself? Problematic?
Concept of original sin? Perfectly fine?Love your neighbor as yourself? Problematic?
How about Leviticus 19:19?Love your neighbor as yourself? Problematic?
Ye shall keep My statutes. Thou shalt not let thy cattle gender with a diverse kind; thou shalt not sow thy field with two kinds of seed; neither shall there come upon thee a garment of two kinds of stuff mingled together.
On the issue of religion, Catholicism or whatnot... if there's ever going to be any meaningful change for the better, it will be done by working class people irrespective of religious, agnostic or atheist beliefs. In truth, some of the most decent human beings I've had dealings with have believed in religious stuff that makes absolutely no sense to me. I've also had dealings with the occasional socialist, anarchist or atheist who have been deeply unpleasant. Attack the hierarchies and powerful religious institutions by all means, but attacking those without power who happen to have personal religious beliefs is a dead end.
Nothing at all but, maybe, be a 'grown up' when you are doing it.is it a bad thing to have issues with Christianity anyway? What’s wrong with disagreeing with ideas you find problematic?
I was. I’m not the one making an issue of itNothing at all but, maybe, be a 'grown up' when you are doing it.
I'd think more of Leviticus 20:10How about Leviticus 19:19?
I mean — that just seems fair enough, really.I'd think more of Leviticus 20:10
“‘If a man commits adultery with another man’s wife—with the wife of his neighbor—both the adulterer and the adulteress are to be put to death."
You can’t really get away from the fact that Christianity is inherently misogynistic. It’s incontrovertible.I think I'm still a Catholic in the church's eyes - I was baptised and never excommunicated - and I definitely don't have a problem with people criticising the church's hierarchy, misogynistic and homophobic doctrines, etc. etc.

If people want to believe in sky pixies or fairies at the bottom of the garden, then as long as they're on our side of the barricades when it comes to the crunch ("the crunch" being international proletarian revolution) then I don't give a fuck.If someone believes in whatever flavour of sky pixie as literal fact, I question whether they can be trusted to have on input on anything important. That said, most of the Irish descent Catholics in my social circle don't believe at all, but pretended to to get their kids into better school.
Actually I take that back as there very well may be Christian denominations that reject the first book of the Bible’s teachingsYou can’t really get away from the fact that Christianity is inherently misogynistic. It’s incontrovertible.
So it's OK if she lives round the corner?I'd think more of Leviticus 20:10
“‘If a man commits adultery with another man’s wife—with the wife of his neighbor—both the adulterer and the adulteress are to be put to death."
And based on a fairy tale. All the hate and badness inherent in it is perpetuated by telling kids made up stories are true before they are old enough know better. You can’t really get away from the fact that Christianity is inherently misogynistic. It’s incontrovertible.
NonsenseYou can’t really get away from the fact that Christianity is inherently misogynistic. It’s incontrovertible.
