Rape allegations against Jimmy Tarbuck

If you were then you wouldn't, or perhaps I ought to say shouldn't, be trying to trivialise it on a public forum.

Sorry, you're talking bollocks, and presuming to speak for people of whom you've no fucking idea how they think on the subject. You don't speak for me, that's for certain bloody sure!

On a couple of threads today I've been making 'wholesome'/sincere posts about abuse interspersed with flippant comments about 70s shite telly, Variety Club nonces in prison etc. Not sure that's much different to the point things reached in this thread when you objected. I (genuinely) think we can do both things at once without demeaning victims of abuse or the topic itself - and as laptop said, I don't think anyone has been flippant about real abuse. Fine lines and all that, but urban is a place where fine lines collide.

I can still be offended by it, no matter how many cunts tell me to ''lighten up''

Not about children being sexually abused by adults. At least not on a forum like this with a high volume of posters.

It seems the red mist prevented you taking in my post.

Again: it seems to me that your complaint is that the humour is near references to children being sexually abused by adults.

I really don't see jokes about fictitious characters, some of them drawn not born, being about abuse.

So dishing out threats that you could't even follow through:rolleyes:

Did I say "I'll kick you in the head" (that being "a threat")?
Nope, I said that some people (meaning you, given how you're acting) "...should be fed a kick in the head a day!".
it's called "voicing an opinion", you eyerolling dick.

Humour that risks normalising abuse is a bit shit. Some people who are not directly threatened by the normalisation of abuse should probably take great care in the way they word their black humour to ensure that they are not accidentally "punching down". It is not enough to say that you abhor sexual predators you actually have to make sure that you are not saying stuff that is likely to encourage predatory types in their belief that they are normal and other (men) just keep quiet about it.

i'm reminded of david niven's anecdote about the film director who got in a state and shouted at those on set 'you think you're all so clever and think you know fuck everything but I know fuck all'.

Well, you should learn to keep your opinions to yourself in some instances.

Or at least avoid thread with key words like nonce, savile and rape in thr title.

No.

If these had been racist or sexist jokes would you be telling me to lighten up? No you wouldn't because those jokes wouldn't even be told. So why is it OK to trivialise/humourise sexual abuse of children?
