what the fuck is a mellow bird? 15 years in the UK and i never heard of it.

is it akin to someone ordering a half pint, or even worse a 'top'?

Speaking of wrong stuff... has anyone ever tried instant tea granules?

Yes. Unspeakably foul

Wtf is mellow birds anyway? There is some weird thread necromancy going on ATM
It's a kind of instant coffee, popular in the 1970s, characterised by having all the flavour and anything resembling coffee-ness, apart from the brown (and presumably the caffeine), removed from it.

Most notable for its presentation: MB, along with other usually shite coffees, came as powder rather than granules.

Essentially, it's coffee for people who don't like coffee.

Surprisingly, at approx 335mg of caffeine per litre (MAFF), Mellow Birds is amongst the strongest instant coffees on the market - only a couple of
"Instant Espresso" brands are significantly higher at around 560mg/l.

In fact, 335mg/l makes Mellow Birds considerably stronger than most medium roast real coffees, which weigh-in somewhere between 140-210mg/l

Talking of Tesco, for gobsmackingly decent instant coffee, you won't go far wrong with Tesco Classic Rich Roast. It's about tuppence ha'penny for the smallest jar. So it's worth a try for anyone who's a prole like me and who doesn't actually object to instant coffee as a point of principle, but who thinks Maxwell House and Nescafe are gak.

Once upon a time my uncle offered me a coffee and gave me Barleycup. Holy sweet Jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeezus, that's some nasty shit. It must have been about twenty years ago now but the thought of it still gives me the boke. AND they still make it.

The missus is giving up caffeine and tried barley cup for a month. I laughed like a hyena whenever she tried to like it.

what about this shite?
wake-up-hot-guarana-drink-whole-earth-125g-1-preview.png

shudder

has guarana

Not that one but I have consumed another coffee/guarana brand and it was quite nice. Then they brought-out a "new formula" that changed a quite decent instant with a useful kick into a really god-awful Nescafe clone - yuck! :(

Is guarana really any different from any other source of caffeine ?
It also contains some theobromine like cocoa does.

Ive unliked it, because I liked it four years ago too as well too !!! .....hmmm

Is this what early stage alzheimer's is like ?

Things with your finger prints on that you've never seemingly seen before ?

Off for a coffee...!

If you want more caffeine in the morning, just drink your brew of choice and drop a couple of caffeine pills. Same effect and you get something nicer to drink.

It's more expensive and gives you a sanctimonious glow because you're not really using anything like caffeine - honest.

It's supposed to release the caffeine slower. :hmm: It's dirt cheap though if you buy the extract, but completely rank tasting and doesn't dissolve that well. I end up putting it in caps to make my own energy pills, but didn't bother again.

Never heard of this either. Coffee wankers are worse than real ail bores though arent' they. Ooh I couldn't possibly countanence drinking Nescafe, you tasteless barbarian. Fuck off then. (Actually I do have ground and a filter machine but you know.)

And alright, instant tea is an abomination. Tried some of that Q tea first time I lived away from home. Pointless drek.
