Papers, please - covid passport bollocks

You think it's odd that someone who has been seriously assaulted or raped would be perfectly happy being physically handled during treatment by random males?
If you do I'd suggest you change jobs. :(
Sometimes it is just not possible. Often the only doctor out of hours is male. Accommodation is possible but not guaranteed.

Do produce evidence that hospital will guarantee only female staff on a unit if you request it. Accommodation will be made but it cannot be guaranteed.

I didn't say there should only be female staff on a unit just that the patient should be able to request treatment by a female member of staff in that situation which I don't think I'd unreasonable.

And they can. Border Reiver has no idea what they're on about, frankly. I think they must be stuck in 1956. Every single claim they've made on this thread is either false, or not worth claiming.

'Many countries' ffs

They can request it. It cannot be guaranteed. It is not a right . The only available clinician may be male.

If you judge otherwise you will have no problem producing a policy which gives an absolute guarantee of no male staff in any circumstances. Reasonable accommodation should be made but there is no absolute guarantee.

Like, I've seen posters be wrong here, shit I've been very wrong myself more than once, but this poster is taking all the biscuits just now

It bothers me because this is a very serious subject, not beans /cheese etc. and this fool could do harm.

GP, not hospital. Also practices may have no female GPs and are not required to enjoy one. With a GP you can vote with your feet.

Produce a hospital policy guaranteeing female only treatment on a ward. Of course reasonable accommodation will be made but there is no guarantee.

Still waiting for someone to produce a hospital policy guaranteeing female only treatment on a ward. Of course reasonable accommodation will be made but there is no guarantee.

From the link I posted before (NHS Choices):

The NHS Constitution sets out the NHS commitment to benefiting the whole community, making sure that nobody is excluded, discriminated against or left behind. This means that the individual is at the heart of the NHS and services must be coordinated around and tailored to the needs and preferences of patients, their families and their carers. As a user of the NHS you have the right to receive care and treatment that is appropriate to you, meets your needs and reflects your preferences.

I would say this is as close to a guarantee as you're likely to find. If you want more, I suggest to UN-retire and take some catch up training.

Can I choose to see a male or female GP?
You can ask to see a male or female GP, as long as your surgery has both male and female GPs available.
GPs at your surgery
Most GP surgeries and health centres have male and female GPs. However, a small number of doctors work on their own. You can find out more on our GP services explained page.
If your GP surgery does have both male and female GPs, they will try their best to meet your request. However, this may not always be possible, or you may have to wait longer to see a specific GP.

That does not guarantee a same sex clinician

I have shown there is no absolute right to a female GP.

It is patently not a guarantee, but an intention. As I said, reasonable accommodation will be made.

The problem is you don't know best here

Why on earth would someone who's suffered domestic violence or sexual abuse be treated on a mental health ward?
Nice deviation. It happens. But it is immaterial. People who gave been raped or abused are not resistant to mental disorder. On the contrary it is often a contributory factor in mental disorder.
