Papers, please - covid passport bollocks

Anyway, Wendy Burn - apart from being a shill for Big Pharma and the high priestess of the lizard industrial complex - is actually a good sort. IMHO.

Here’s her saying sensible and helpful things, certain (alleged) professionals on this thread could learn from her

Depends what the service is. The service I'm talking about above is respite care, whereby my dad goes into a home for a week or two to give my mum a break. She's theoretically entitled to four weeks a year. It's been a struggle for her not to have that along with the day centre closed and theoretically supposed to be shielding (she mostly hasn't been shielding, but that's for the parenting your parents thread :D).

For that service, it would be madness not to demand negative covid tests before admittance tbh. Iirc they're asking for two negative results, a few days apart, before admittance.
I don't think it would be madness not to demand proof of negative results.

What would be 'madness', and would put your Mum and others at risk, would be to assume that a negative test guarantees that someone isn't infectious and that all other protective measures can therefore be abandoned.

You are free to refuse treatment. You are not able to demand treatment on your terms it you have refused treatment.
Funny that when I had my wisdom teeth out over 25 years ago they wanted to only take 3 of them out as the 4th could be problematic yet it was that specific tooth that was causing the problems. I told them to take all of them out or not to bother. They did take them all out.

Last year, any respite care my dad could have had would have involved him being in prison, essentially. Confined to his room for the full two weeks. It's not about abandoning all protection measures, but it is about being able to relax extreme measures such as confinement to your room and limited human contact that themselves cause harm - eg for dementia patients, it is proven that reducing human contact causes an acceleration in cognitive decline.

We'll have to agree to disagree about the madness or otherwise of admitting patients to care homes without testing them first. I think it is madness.

If course treatment can be negotiated. But you cannot demand it.

But that's not what I'm suggesting.

Anyway, this thread is increasingly resembling a bunch of idiots with fixed ideas shouting past each other, so I'm off to celebrate the news about Prince Philip

I think you've missed my point, though. Routine testing and ensuring vaccination are part of the process by which highly damaging protective measures can start to be relaxed. Extreme infection control measures themselves cause harm in a care home setting.

if you choose to ignore far worse government overreach and control, and removal of privacy, control, confidentiality, civil liberties etc, then why should you be taken seriously when (by complete coincidence) you get jittery when it’s government intrusion that is 1) regarding vaccines and 2) effects your own liberties, then people might not take your seriously.

if those who access social care and/or their families express that they do not wish to be in contact with staff who haven’t been vaccinated, should their wishes be respected or does the revolution require that they take one for the team?

Classic whataboutery

Disclisure of privileged information is a civil tort and possibly a criminal offence.
Doesn't stop someone looking and unless they were to disclose it how would anyone know.

If patients aren't allowed to choose who treats them then what happens when someone is admitted due to domestic violence or sexual assault? Do they not have a choice to be not treated by male staff? Would you even stick them on a mixed ward?

If so I feel sorry for your patients. :(

Whether or not they want the c5gid vaccine or not NHS or private carers have been overworked and under supported through this and solidarity with them should come before the judgemental crap I read here.

You are misrepresenting what this guy says

There are no wards where male staff are excluded. Simple. Accomodation could be made if possible, but it is not a right. People do have odd odd ideas.
