Palestine solidarity demos in the UK

Brings to mind a punk lyric from the 70s which went through the full legal advice. Can't remember who it was but do recall bits of it. 'Dont sign for something you don't own, dont make a written statement...'.

Desperate Bicycles - Advice On Arrest

It won't happen here
They can't do it to me
I've got nothing to fear
Never seen the SPG
We've got democracy
Who needs solidarity
This is what to do when it happens to you!

[Chorus]
Shout out your name
Take all their numbers
Make witnesses for your defence
At the station they will search you
Make a list of your belongings
Don't sign for something you don't own
At the station there'll be questions
Don't answer, see a lawyer first
Don't make a written statement without legal advice

[Verse 2]
It won't happen here
They can't do it to me
I've got nothing to fear
Never seen the SPG
We've got democracy
Who needs solidarity
This is what to do when it happens to yoU

[Chorus]
Shout out your name
Take all their numbers
Make witnesses for your defence
At the station they will search you
Make a list of your belongings
Don't sign for something you don't own
At the station there'll be questions
Don't answer, see a lawyer first
Don't make a written statement without legal advice

For Bristol people:

January 8, 2024 @ 9:00 am - February 2, 2024 @ 5:00 pm

In May 2022, 9 activists smashed their way into Elbit’s Bristol HQ, commemorating Nakba day and disrupting Elbit for their part in the ongoing ethnic cleansing of Palestinians. All of the activists were remanded to prison, with 7 held for a week while with two of them were held for over a month. Now, a year and a half later, they return for a three-week trial and will once again say: Elbit is guilty, we are not.

More information on the action can be found in the original press release: Palestine Action Smash Elbit's Bristol HQ for Nakba

John Woodcock AKA Lord Walney can fuck the fuck ff:

Palestine protest organisers ‘should pay for policing’
Well, Charles Windsor had better dig deep and cough up £50-100 million (not that he would need to dig that deep for such a piffling amount):

Probably best to knock off a few tens of millions from his mam's estate too, for the 'letting people queue up and then walk past her box' thing.

John Woodcock AKA Lord Walney can fuck the fuck off:

Palestine protest organisers ‘should pay for policing’
Wonder where I've heard that one before? Hmmm:
Milei’s government will not be reducing the repressive apparatus of the state. His security minister, Patricia Bullrich, another longtime member of the political elite, has pledged to mobilize the police to crack down on protesters. Bullrich has announced her intention to charge organizers and individual protesters for the cost of policing demonstrations. As the authorities will be the ones deciding how much policing each demonstration requires, this policy will enable police to shake down ordinary people in precisely the way that “anarcho”-capitalists accuse socialists of doing.
Anyone want to take bets about what Milei policy Woodcock will be suggesting next?

Supposedly people kettled on wesminster bridge at some point today...
Kettled at the beginning at the park and then on Westminster bridge although if the plan was to occupy a bridge and get press it succeeded

Police very agitated right from start and made a couple of show/deterrent arrests aggressively for no particular legal reason

It's like the met are policing for the twitter optics now - get a few arrests in early on and put them on socials

They also do this thing now with the end of pro Palestine demos where they sweep people out from one direction to get them to leave and then prevent them leaving for no apparent reason including families and people with buggies

Liverpool has a long tradition of doing their demos on Sundays to avoid the chaos that is Liverpool on a Saturday, which meant I got to go to the Liverpool demo today.

Jebus there was one speaker who sapped the soul from me and sold it down the river whilst condescending all the way.

The personal testimony from someone who had until very recently been in Gaza was ... yeah, it was ... yeah. Yeah.

So Saturday in London? I have a spare room if anyone is travelling down and can tolerate elderly cats.
