Almost as though losing all your dece centre backs has had an effect throughout the team. The impact of VVD when he came in was immediate and obvious so I'm a bit surprised at people playing his absence down.

I don't understand the insistence on playing first Fabinho and then Henderson as centre backs (especially the times it's been both). With no VVD the defence is bound to be weakened anyway (short of signing Baresi and an aging-reversal machine), but a strong midfield could have protected young/inexperienced players. As it is, playing no holding mid highlights either the inexperience of youth or that experienced heads are out of their comfort zones - I genuinely think you'd have been better playing a couple of 19yr old centre backs right through, with a Fabinho + Henderson + a.n.other midfield.

if you haven't got the personnel to play the style you want, you have to change the style.
That's the crux of the matter do they stick with the style/formation or change it? There is a coaching argument both ways.. Sometimes tinkering does the job or a change in formation Chelsea under Conte switching to a back three. However, the alternative view is sometimes you need players to learn how to play the formation and style and to improve their decision making within those tactical boundaries I feel this is what Klopp achieved, this is how Biesla works, this is how Tuchel works.

which is great but if they dont get the points they will fuck up next season as well as this if they dont finish in the top four.
at wolves nuno had them drilled brilliantly with 3 4 3 for a year, then went into the premier and after a decent start started to fade off. it wasnt working with the players he had, traore was taking a bit of time to bed in so he changed to 3 5 2, switching it back occasionally for parts of matches. this season was gonna be 4 2 3 1 and goals galore but a shaky start and injuries to raul, johnny and boly meant that had to be changed.
for klopp it was stick or twist weeks ago, he stuck. it may be too late to change now.

Its a dilemma either way.tbh. Is it the system or the players or an egg and chicken situation? Undoubtedly there are some players there whose levels have dropped this season . Klopps a project manager devoted to a style of play and tweaking tactical formations but personally I can't see him changing the formula.

this is all excellent fun when it isnt your team. and you get great odds betting against them.

Not a 'convincing' performance but a valuable 3 points. Still don't seem able to capitalise on possession or chances. Gini Wijnaldum or Curtis Jones my picks for MotM.

Will be nice to have Jota back, rumour was he has Appendicitis which kept him off the bench yesterday.

The Sheffield United keeper plays really well, equally Adrian was decent which is cheering.

Chelsea is a very different game for us. Especially given how tight the top 4 task is this season. That is my birthday game so am not sure I want to watch it in case LFC capitulate again  :D

The standings 2nd to 10th are very close on points

Citeh look like they are already champions sadly. Can't really complain given how they are playing. Hate to say they do look like a quadruple is very possible.

I think Utd will get CL qualification. Leicester were looking good but not sure about them. Can Moyes West Ham keep going?

Shame about that South African escapade

I'd forgotten all about football and apartheid tbh and certainly, wasn't aware of some of the players who had played there during apartheid.

probably this is for the best, given the home form
