Notting Hill Carnival 2012

then popped over to channel one to see what was happening, Mikey was playing some 70s instrumentals, then stopped to say it was the 30th anniversary of Channel One, talked a bit about how the sound started, played one studio one, then said he'd been up for 48 hours and was tired, and would we all mind if he went to get some food! Of course the crowd was all ready to go, but fair enough and he put on a, what was it now, Duke Reid LP i think and chipped off!!
ha i was here at this exact time! was funny.

I was stood a foot or 2 on the path in front of the back speakers, right next to the stall. A few times the base was so intense I could do nothing except giggle to myself.

Heh, think I must have been stood right next to you.

Best bits were a bashment sound called rough and sweet or something right on the edge and Dennis Bovell at gladdy wax, all good.

Grrrrrrrrr, Dennis Bovell as well?
Well I'm glad you all had yourselves a nice time.

Now get out there and do it again dammit.:)

another memory - was next to three, must've been 14 year old, boys having their first carnival, saw them have a sneaky spliff, and all three of them jumped hard to the steppers!! Gave one of them my horn which he blew with a passion, and which he said he'd keep as a momento of his first carnival

Just listening to the CD I bought at the Aba Shanti stall. Shocking sound quality, but it still sounds sweet :) It's the 21st anniversary revival sunday one. Wish it had a track listing...

if you like carnival garage vibes this is nice listening this morning.... from last year...i skipped the first 5mins
!

boilerroom carnival streaming should be up and running soon....

Lord my head hurts
Good Times dropping Debbie Malone -Rescue Me was good - then sepnt a couple of hours at Sancho Panza then round the corner to some sound playing some old skool dub, not a clue who they were.....well that was the end of it
Before that some blinding two step at another sound whos name escapes, then some Salsa at small south american rig....
Lovely day
Had some stupid idea that I was going to do it all again today
Brain and body no longer capable though...........

Was there yesterday and had a great time. Weather was pretty good too. Aside from the usual wonder round we spent most of the day around all saints road.

Today is the first time in for least 5 or 6 years where I haven't done both days. But given how much I had to eat, drink and smoke yesterday it's probably for the best!

Totally agree about the CMC/Matrix dnb rig. It seems to get worse each year! however I still always end up there!

and don't get me started about that Major Lazer ticket only soundsystem. It goes against everything carnival is about!

Not for us today either, went y/day cos I'm up at 5 tomorrow.

But we are enjoying a Carnivaly vibe here at home with rum truffles, chicken, rice an pea and great music, an ting!

Went yesterday, stayed mostly at Solution but wandered over to Funbunch (I think) who were playing some good old 80s & 90s hiphop. back to Solution for righteous Rastafari tunes and bass, and just when I was thinking how I could do with a bit of ska, they indeed dropped 2 or 3 of the very same, certainly got the people jumping! Good fun, friendly people. Feeling a bit fragile today though (must be the rum).

weather seems to be holding up nicely :) wish i had the legs for today, but dont. be nice to live in notting hill... (maybe not on the ground floor though!)

Just got an ID on a tune I heard that i loved to bits yesterday, as played on lord ambassador
