Motherhood and the denial of the mother

Yes. I know. And I'm adding that in my mother's case I believe there was also a degree, however minimal, of determined agency in that stoppage.

ETA That's probably the wring words. I'm trying to avoid the words "hysteria" or "hysterical" for reasons that are obvious.

Not "agency", then, because there was no conscious thought going on. Her deep overwhelming antipathy to motherhood was so powerful that is was a contributing factor. I believe it. When I heard the story of my birth it made sense in the context of my knowledge and experience of her. It makes sense, given her behaviour and dysfunction in all other areas.

Apparently the modern term is conversion disorder.

My mother and her twin both present with various versions of this.

I tried to join in the topic with an opinion and was condescended to by a bunch of twats

What is a girl to do?
Not write insulting shit like this: "Sorry you couldn't get to glasto and be on enough drugs to make your empty lives seem interesting xx"

Eh?
Fuck off.
I've posted very hard personal stuff and the rest if the discussion is nonsense.

I'm withdrawing my personal stuff from a nonsense thread.

Please don't patronise me with your asinine assumptions. Ta :cool:

It may be nonsense to you. But there is a certain absurd poetry to it all

Googling 'philosophy discussion' out of boredom and ending up in this car crash of a discussion has been a pretty traumatic experience.

Well instead of making fun of people's real life struggles... why not communicate openly and honestly?

I made fun of the level of discussion.

I posted a true thought that bugs me a lot, how we are just essentially cattle or germs or whatever, and the idea of motherhood is a fiction
It's possible to make a baby without a woman. Or if I am wrong about that you can definitely just get the baby once it's out and it won't know any difference.

This was done. Many babies were removed from mothers. Sent away. Given to other families. Many grew up desperately trying to find their mother.
Please stop whatever this is.

And it was normal in a lot of cultures for the longest time and they didn't
Europeans had wet nurses in the 19th century, Chinese and Indians too
Probably other less celebrated cultures
Babies as the centre of your life are a consumer fetish like marriage
