Motherhood and the denial of the mother

This is mostly a lovely documentary (52 mins) asking about the nature of mothers. Trying to understand what similarities and differences we have with other mammals. There are some beautiful examples of matriarchy and some disturbing information regarding infanticide. Interesting thoughts on post natal depression. Some ideas on why male's testes are large or small. And it has baby elephants!

Edited to add word mostly

Regarding above video. It is quite old and I would expect and/or hope some of the practices of infanticide are now outdated. It is discussed for five to 10 minutes in a 52 min documentary.

As they said - that was fucking amazing!

I heard her on Radio 4 a couple of years ago. I was so impressed I pulled over and wrote her name on the back of a receipt which I promptly lost. Thank you @fabriclivebaby for reminding me of this brilliant woman.

This is a super quick post as my sister who reminded me of the genius of this show is also trying to get me out the door to go drink MORE cocktails (we've actually got to pay for now...)

Have you watched Motherland?

BBC Two - Motherland

Series two is coming soon apparently.

I didn't check other forums (TV, Parenting) apologies. It does however speak out to this thread and also the gender pay gap thread.

The party episode is the one that really resonated with me. Would love to know who watched and loved this show too
