Living off the land 100%

stan's notion of living off the land would be lounging in a hammock for lots of euros while other people bashed the trees for 3/4 euros
There's acres and acres of land here where poor Portuguese live mainly off the land .the soil in the south is pretty much baked clay and soil but they grow crops for a good ten months. Olive trees, pommegranites, almond trees, figs , carob , orange and lemon trees. Raise and kill their own chickens , club together for a pig , make their own wine etc. But they won't have wifi and a laptop , be sketching asking for donations or hanging round in bars all night because they are living off the land full time.

How embedded (if at all) are they in the wider money economy?

To live outside the law you must be honest.

Listen right. If anyone saw me going into McDonald's, I was just getting a beer for the sake of recharging my laptop.

I want to fucking well go harvest hiking. My foot is getting me down, but I think Two more days and losing some weight from my backpack will be good enough. I am going to take a gamble on losing my sleeping bag. It is the only real option. Everything else is pretty much essential.

I am putting on weight myself and turning into a bar fly here. Setubal is nice enough. Lots of public art, contemporary walk ways, beautiful beaches, nice old buildings, history etc etc etc. It also has the most fantastic market hall I have ever seen in terms of quality, quantity and variety of produce, but I guess this is peak harvest season. However, it is dull as shit. There is no alternative. No option. All very polished, safe and conservative in a very mono-cultural way. I have done well enough here work wise, and the people have been really nice, but it is staid as fuck to the point of being stale. I want out. May even leave tomorrow. Pretty sure all I need to do is lose 3, 4 Kilo's from what I am carrying.

No idea where I am heading
