What I find interesting about Loser's use of this old fable is that he is being uncharacteristically indirect. Perhaps his 'financial backers' have informed him that the funding for generating publicity by losing expensive legal actions brought by drag artists is already fully committed.
British born actor Matthew Marsden won a best newcomer award over 25 years ago for his role in Coronation Street and subsequently moved to America. He claims his recent relative career decline is because of the right wing and antivax views which he propagates through his social media accounts. He has expressed his views on Gaza and attracted a great deal of pushback. A post which particularly appeared to get to him was Mukhtar posting this:
after Marsden posted this:
To demonstrate that he wasn't at all stung by mockery of his career Marsden went on to his YouTube channel and recorded a 90 minute video about trolls which referred to Mukhtar's posts.
Mukhtar recorded his own remix of this video
I imagine it was the sight of his nemesis taking the piss out of someone with right wing views which provoked Loser to get involved. It's not easy to imagine he would empathise with the plight of an actor who still has something of a career. He responded to the last Mukhtar x-tweet above with a screencap of it and
because, you know, Real Men don't do nuance.
Mukhtar has been very happy to reciprocate including this which I see is beginning to circulate
Old Fable yes. I associate it with Orson Welles recounting it in Mr Arkadin. Where Loser heard it who knows. As Boo Radley75 points out it would be funny if it was The Crying Game given his extreme views about trans people.

I like the way they use our cats against us as a dreaded future if we don't lower our standards. "You'll be single with loads of cats" as if that's something to avoid. Like, don't threaten me with a good time!
When he's not having coke fuelled rants about drag queens and calling random people paedophiles, Laurence seems to spend most his social media time posting a load of boring, samey photos of his little dog. Don't see that as any different to crazy cat ladies.
I guess his logic is that dogs are MANLY while cats are for GIRLS. Even though some of the biggest dog people I've met are women and plenty of men are cat lovers. David Seaman, for instance.
