Laurence Fox. The twat.

I never saw Lewis. Is it any good?
I always imagined it would just be two hours of Whately looking mystified and wondering what Morse would do.
It was really good. But I always preferred Lewis to the pompous Morse. However, I can't watch repeats now because of that twat being in it. He's spoiled it for me.

I prefer Endeavour to Morse too, even though they are the same character. I loved Morse at the time, but I like the spin offs better now.

Shaun Evans and Roger Allam are superb in that.

I stopped watching several episodes because I found it so depressing that Roger Allam had been killed off and then later discovered he hadn't been killed off at all so I watched them :)

Allam is a fabulous actor, and Evans is great. He is unrecognisable as Morse in other roles, but I suppose that's good acting for you. Fox should take notes if he was still able to find work as an actor. He was the worst thing in Lewis.

yes Allam, and Michael Kitchen as Foyle and David Jason as Frost are all superb.
I really like the first two, but avoided the last one. I know it was critically acclaimed, but it just looked so depressing. I know they are all murder mysteries, but you have the genteel Oxford set mysteries with some quirky clues in Endeavour. Foyle is also set in the past, so has a definite quality and appeal, but Frost just looks grim.

Frost is a lot lazier in the radio versions which is quite entertaining.

They filmed quite a bit of Frost around bits of Leeds and saw crews out at various locations in Headingley where I lived. But being 19 or so at the time, I wasn’t interested in elderly detectives, and hated my home town, thinking how dreary the show must be to be filmed there (it’s not set there, is it?), so I turned my nose up at it. Would probably be all over it if it came out now though. But I doubt I’ll get around it now - didn’t realise it ran for so long - 15 series over 18 years! Never gone start on a project that big. Seen a friend disappear into Columbo for a year. Too much.

Speaking of Leeds, Fox was apparently born there. Neither party cares to admit it though, and that’s fine
