Lambeth Council Watch - news and updates about the 'co-operative' council

Do who did the actual declarations in Lambeth? Was it the Mayor or the Deputy Chief Executive?
As these vital dramatic moments do not seem to be recorded for posterity on YouTube I think we should be told!

What even is London Councils? Labour thing or a local government association thing?
Wikipedia has this:

History

The Association of London Government (ALG) came out of a merger between the London Boroughs Association and the Association of London Authorities in 1995. The ALA consisted of many, mainly Labour, councils which had left the LBA in the 1980s.

To coincide with the creation of the Greater London Authority, the ALG merged with the London Boroughs Grants Committee, the Greater London Employers Association, the London Housing Unit and the Transport Committee for London on 1 April 2000.

In October 2006 it changed its name from the Association of London Government to London Councils to avoid confusion with the Greater London Authority (GLA) and the Local Government Association (LGA).

Membership

The membership of London Councils comprises the 32 London borough councils, the City of London Corporation, the London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority and the Mayor's Office for Policing and Crime.

The GLA was a member of the ALG for a period, before Mayor Ken Livingstone fell out with leading councillors and withdrew. The two organisations co-ordinate their work.

It looks like there will be a by-election in Clapham East, as well as Herne Hill and Streatham Vale & Common. Cllr Jess Leigh has just landed a very handsomely rewarded SPAD gig at the Home Office with Yvette Cooper.

Meanwhile, Lambeth Leader Claire Holland is looking for her third job. As well as the day job at the Town Hall, and the new appointment of Leader of London Councils, Cllr Holland now fancies herself to land a seat on the Labour NEC.

Meanwhile, Henna Shah, who resigned as a Councillor in Streatham Common and Vale just before the GE, has now been confirmed as Director of Party Relations at No. 10. Which sounds like a throwback to the last government...

Steve Reed was interviewed on the Trevor Philips programme on Sky News this morning.
He said that in his tenure as leader of Lambeth Council "we built 20,000 homes contributing to the government target"

Didn't he mean Higgins got a £350 million PFI scheme awarded to them to build 350 unaffordable homes?
Please refresh my memory.

Tory councillor from Dover complaining about Lambeth Council sending homeless people to be housed in Dover

Quite mad how common this is.

Like what happens when they move? Does Lambeth keep monitoring them or does say Luton? Monitoring for day to day active support of high need etc.
