Labour win Oldham East by-election by 3,000 votes on on 48% turn out

what drivel

So Labour is set to be challenged from the left how exactly?

Although with you being one of those who spend half your time ranting about Labour 'betrayals' only to obediently vote Labour come election time, I probably shouldn't be asking you.

I've never ranted about labour 'betrayals', that is just a figment of your imagination.

That you also failed to make any attempt to defend your earlier assertion does rather show you have nothing to back it up.

Unrealisiticly and in marginal/fringe/rant-tastic style.

I don't welcome that failed in advance challenge, at all, but that's how the system dictates it ....

And that electoral system guarantees that a left alternative to Labour will never come about. And dictates that we're governed only by parties committed to neo-liberal economics.

Well if you want it spelling out, how the Greens ran their campaign, or the quality of their activists, is irrelevant (the same applies to anybody else purporting to be to Labour's left), as their vote would have been no bigger when the only way people see of hurting the coalition is to vote Labour. It's understandable-but ultimately electing Labour won't stop the cuts. It will just mean they'll be implemented in a different way.

If you haven't ranted about Labour betrayals, I must be mistaking you for some other Trot robot. Where exactly do you see a left challenge to Labour coming from (for the second time)?

Can't disagree with that really. But (generally speaking) I also have little time for lefties who defy reality in full 'on another planet' style ....

In Oldham East and Saddleworth, such people were 'objectively' ;) right, because that was the only workable kick the coalition option on the highly limited menu!

Generally, lefties want it both ways-to condemn Labour and to rely on Labour to rescue them from, or keep out, the Tories. They know very well that this guarantees Labour dominance of the working class vote, as well as limiting working class political activity generally, but prefer to ignore such unpleasant facts.

I know-but this shows no sign of changing at the national level. Which means that, ultimately, much of the anti-cuts campaigning will turn out to have been in vain when a future Labour government implements cuts.*

* Note to idiots: this doesn't mean that I think people shouldn't bother campaigning against the cuts.

Could the poor CLP members not read and ask if the basic premise of the claims were true? Or did they not give a shit? My money is on the latter. Did they think it was fine to photoshop an opponent being led away why the police? I spoke to someone who sat through the entire trial and knows the area well. According to him this is not the culture of 2/3 people. We keep having to let things go, having to "move on". It often only invites more trouble and shit in the future.
you really haven't a scooby, when it comes to lorganising for GE campaigns, do you?

by the only ways that work; endless, relentless, high-energy grassroots activism, backed up by strikes, occupations, DA etc

Yes, I know that. But it won't give us what's needed to challenge neo-liberal capitalism at root-an alternative government. Such activity isn't even able to achieve what it did in the past when capital was on the defensive.
