Kate Bush Running up that hill

No she’s a Theresa May fan but definitely not a Tory supporter:

Hah great distinction!
Were it not for Priti Patel who has worked to outdo her the wonderful Theresa May was possibly the most evil home secratary in modern British political history.
I'm not buying her backtrack

Making a lot of money out of her art does not automatically make her a Tory. I have no idea what her political leanings are - Tory or otherwise - but do not think that is automatically connected to how much money she makes from her music.

If she is indeed a Tory supporter, that would not have any impact on the quality of her music.

I know that Adele has in the past come out as a Tory supporter. I can deplore her self-interested politics whilst still enjoying some of her music.

Whatever Kate Bush's politics may be I am a fan of hers because of her music and not her politics.

I also do not think that being wealthy automatically makes someone a bad person. Marcus Rashford is something of an example here.

And one of my very best friends is a wealthy lady who works high up in the pharmaceutical industry. We often disagree on politics but she has a heart of gold when it comes to using her money to help people out.

This is one of my favourite Kate Bush songs

Though as it was just a theme tune it doesn't suggest any political leanings.
She did appear to side with the tories when she said it was great that May became prime minister. . . and was used by tory press to their advantage (Bush was in the press a lot at the time because of her upcoming live show). Bush stayed quiet on the subject for a long time, but eventually said that all she meant was that it was good that women were making it into positions of power.
I don't think it was ever made clear if she was a tory and regretted outing herself or if she wasn't and just got fed up with the tory press running with it (while she tried to stay out of it).

To be honest I've always found 80's Kate Bush to be a bit disappointing. Wuthering Heights was something completely untethered but her music became this well constructed intelligent pop that's really quite earthbound in comparison. Still can't get excited by it.

After all the media hype, sheep like, I watched the RUTH video just before going to bed. An hour later I’d watched most of her original 80s videos. I’d forgotten just how much I liked them. And it was pretty amazing at the time that a woman could do that on her own terms.

I am now tired.

So I've gone on youtube and a listened to quiet a few bands doing cover versions. And can categorically state none beat the original and men sound crap covering it. Just feels better suited to a woman's voice.

Surely you need a heart of stone to not love this:

Then I have a heart of lead*, it's bloody horrible. . . skincrawingly amplified by the unbearable video (I had to stop it, but I assume it continues in much the same vein) .

I would have said gold** but obviously that sounds too positive.

** Yes yes osmium, blah blah blah, but that's just getting silly.

Musically it's wuthering heights I find dull. Apart from the ridiculous register it's sung in it's just a straightforward piano ballad.

That explains why a young person put this song on at a party and I thought, that's random, but what a cool girl, she likes Kate Bush! I don't watch Stranger Things, but now it makes sense :D. It wasn't random at all.
