Kate Bush Running up that hill

Cliff Burton had a musical education in jazz & classical though, sure all the odd time signatures and the like was probably down to him

the description of the way he was deliberately letting the guitar riffs breathe was quite interesting.

anyway, back to Kate - where the hell did she learn her bonkers style?

That metallica one - i assume if the band watched that they'd be amazed they were apparently such technical geniuses :D

I love them. But i think, particularly at that young age, they had no idea what all those random time signatures and suspended chords were all about. could be wrong.

A bit like John Lennon on learning folk studied his lyrics wrote I Am the Walrus and said something like “let them try and work that out then!”

Metallica are exceptional musicians though. You don’t just stumble into that kind of composing.

THAT IS AMAZING! Frightening lyrics, if you really listen to them... The theft of a soul

Well dont forget its based on Wuthering Heights and Heathcliff literally dug up Catherine's grave so that he could hold her one last time ...
Dark stuff...
Gripping..

And Kate Bush amplified that for me.
I absolutely adore(d) that song.

Wuthering Heights was her best ever track. If only music videos were better back then. The spooky thing though as she basically wrote this as a child.

The lyrics could've been written by E.A. Poe. "Wuthering Heights" by Kate Bush is an astonishingly great work of art

VECNA: Would you like to join them, Max?

(Music plays as an image of Max’s friends appears in the distance as if at the top of a hill.)

VECNA: They can’t help you now, Max. There’s a reason… sorry, is that “Turn It On Again” they’re playing?

Reminds me of some very 'simple' songs I have written and then tried to convert to midi and score, which have turned out to have bizarre time signatures and phrasing that took me ages (with my lack of actual musical knowledge) to figure out.

I heard them play Baltimora singing Tarzan Boy in the first or second episode and couldn't help but wonder what that scene would have been like if that had been Max's favourite song.
