Italy v Uruguay (Group D) Tuesday 24th June 2014

Uruguay captain Diego Lugano: "You saw this, really? You need to show me because I didn't see anything. Did you see it today or did you see what happened in other years. You couldn't have seen it today because nothing happened.

"The worst of everything is the attitude of Chiellini. He's a great player, with an enormous status. It doesn't correspond with Italian football. As sportsmen leaving the field, crying and appealing against a rival. As a man he disappointed me totally."
:hmm:

I can see it now. People moaning about how the press are out to get him and how they photoshopped it and published it all over the news wires as some sort of grand conspiracy. I'm sure lizard space Jews will be involved somewhere along the line too!
Yeah The Guardian's getting it in the neck on Twitter right now.

I'm still hoping Suarez is in it for the semi against Brazil so he can Colloidal with Silva........grabbing it,,,,,almost there....

coat on...

I didn't see puncture marks on the TV replay tbh. Doesn't change the fact that he clearly bit him though.

Rightly or wrongly, never going to go anywhere near criminal charges.

Does anyone know how what FIFA's jurisdiction is? He'll get a sizeable ban, definitely out of this world cup and probably a fair portion of the next FIFA sanctioned tournament (presumably the Copa America?), but can a ban be transferred over to either UEFA or FA/Premier League comps? Is there such a thing as a "worldwide ban from football"?

From memory, I *think* that's what Adrian Mutu got for sticking half of Columbia up his nose.
Mutu was banned by the FA and sacked by Chelsea. He's played for a few different teams since Chelsea.

I don't think there's a body which can issue a worldwide ban, like they can with cycling, for instance.

He can be banned for Liverpool, too.

the ones people are asking you that you're not actually answering. i'll ask once more, do you draw the line anywhere? or is everything fair game on the pitch?

You mean like when I said that article you posted would be difficult to call not a legal matter? That bit where i'm not avoiding the question? The one where Fez remaroked about bringing the law in and he agreed with me re Ferguson? That bit i'm not answering? Or another one?

No, I don't think 'everything is fair game', never once said it was. Where you'd draw the line would be the start of the minefield. If it was so easy why has it not been done already?

What I don't get is why the ban lasts for months rather than games? Normally someone is banned for so many games.

Except when in a World Cup? :hmm:

I think it's 1-4 games standard, which can be extended for up to 2 months for exceptional circumstances. A 3rd biting incident on top of his ban for racism, somehow "exceptional" doesn't begin to cover it - there's no point in a short ban and telling him to go and think about what he's done, the little galacticunt* clearly doesn't learn so the only thing to do is take him out of the firing line completely. For the protection of centre backs throughout the land, so to speak.

*I'm going to make this a thing.

They get to keep him?
Probably yes but they must have put some clauses in around his wages and bonuses should he be a naughty boy like this again. I don't think we'll find out what they amount to tbh but I'd love to know if there are some all the same.

About the photo shopping, those pictures, didn't they appear pretty much immediately? They've been shown on the Beeb, haven't they (not that that's proof)
