Costa Rica v England (Group D) Tuesday 24th June 2014

Indeed. We're basically playing against the international equivalent of Fulham.
IMO international football is a massive leveller in that regard. Since the players play together so rarely, a lot of the big teams are incredibly disjointed. If you get the team dynamics right you can beat some giants.

Not sure why it's worth commenting that a game between two sides with nothing to play for might not be terribly interesting or dramatic.

some nasty stuff on radio 5 phone in. a caller was just suggesting that the problem is the players largely come from a working class background, therefore, they're basically too thick to make good decisions on the pitch :(. (the presenter did try to qualify it by stating that plenty of people without degrees or a levels are still clever). he also said the players should get a better education before they play or should go to a nice middle class academy like Southampton! Srsly! also, callers suggesting its not politically correct to be passionate about England whereas it is to support wales or Scotland. maybe we just need to accept we weren't very good.
