Italy v Costa Rica (Group D) Friday 20th June 2014

Regardless of what happens in the next match, i dont think what happened in 1990 will get mentioned anymore.

I've been very fair to England. They were deeply average and can have no complaints about their very early exit.

I agree and so do they. It's not been the madness of "WE'RE GUNNA DO IT" a la 2006 this time. The Italy defeat was pretty popular in fact!

I'd like Costa Rica to keep going and going. I still remember Cameroon in 1990. Still my favourite run by a non-fancied team.

I think you've lost the plot here, to be honest.
Look, we all know England were shit (not as shit as 2010 mind). I don't mind somebody having a dig - well, a repeated dig on the last page - but why pretend it was something other than a dig?

joking aside, Costa Rica turned in a remarkable perfomance there. A great passing side and very, very well organised. Italy took them for granted a bit.

another night of seethe on Talksport lies ahead, with England's exit to be variously blamed on Roy Hodgson not being animated enough on the touchline, 'Arry ( :D ) not getting the job, JT and Cashley being left at home, etc etc.

The reality is England have a side in transition but the likes of Sterling, Henderson have shown enough in the two games to show that better performances lie ahead of England in future tournaments. Time for Stevie G et al to be shown the door.

I feel for Roy Hodgson, he will be crucified in the next few weeks but he is a decent coach and I really don't think England could do better at present. If the FA keep their heads I am sure much better performances, from the younger players in this group, lie ahead at the next Euros, and the next world cup.

If I followed England I'd just avoid the Talksport and tabloid roasters calling for mass sackings, foreginers in the EPL caps, and "getting the youngsters in" in the next few days. Sensible England fans knew they weren't going to do much in this tournament, but that it was all about gaining experience for the future. I can't see what has really changed, beyond the disappointment of an unexpectedly early departure.

Aren't we all sensitive. If I wanted to get stuck in, England have left a rich stockpile of ammo to attack them with.

I described England as deeply average. I fail to see what's even slightly unreasonable about that.

Yes, 'deeply average', then 'deeply, deeply average' when no one bit the first time. I've no problem with that - really - but I have with your outraged tone when someone bites back.

I dared to describe England as 'deeply average' twice? OMG!
