First off, why bring it up, twice, at the very moment we were being knocked out? You have a history of sticking the boot in when England are under-performing or losing, and this just added to that.
Second, we lost to two teams in the top 10, both above us, and we did it narrowly while creating a number of decent chances ourselves. It's not where we would like to be, but it's a damn sight better than where we have been and I'm not sure there's that much shame to be had, to be honest.
Seriously, imagine if England fans popped up on a thread just as you were failing to qualify for anything, again, and said "huh, your team's not much cop, eh?". Even if it's true, it's a little classless.

Firstly, to all but the daftest and dizziest of dreamers, England were already knocked out. Secondly, given that this is their worst performance at the World Cup in living memory, to describe them as being "deeply average" is not only extremely accurate it's also being rather kind to them.
Thirdly, if I wanted to stick the boot in, "deeply average" isn't a phrase I'd use, and I'd have gone to an England thread to have that conversation. I didn't. And as for daring to mention the phrase a whole two times, it was in response to the ongoing chat here.

TBF Cam there's nothing wrong with people commenting on other teams performances, I've seen you do it enough times. England fans aren't special snowflakes anymore than Spanish fans or anyone else.

If you think two remarks that a team registering its worst world cup performance in living memory were 'deeply average' you'd better buy some ear muffs when you go to a real game then because people say the most beastly things. And maybe look away from some of the threads here because some may feel England's performance was a lot worse than 'average.' (See post #109)
