Yes. What he says is strictly true. From those latest figures, twitter users are more likely to dislike Musk than non twitter users. They're also more likely to like him.

The high number of daily twitterers who like him is likely a reflection of the decline in twitter since he took over. To get a full picture of that, you'd need to look at the overall twitter numbers. Looking it up, it fell by about a third last year in the UK. So the likely explanation for the rise in his favourability number among regular users is that a big chunk of people have left because they dislike him.

I know, and it does my nut that so many people can't or won't understand this. If it was his rich white buddies raping them, he'd call them a bunch of silly bitches and whores. Same with Kellie-Jay Keen. Just as the Holocaust wasn't bad because it was a genocide, it was bad because Hitler targeted Jews instead of Muslims, so the rape and abuse of teenage girls is bad because the wrong people did it, not because the act itself is downright evil. You might be right, and I'm not sure I'm disagreeing. The thing is, I expect the wheels of capitalism to keep spinning. There'll be financial killings to be made from the slashing of regulations, environmental disregard and lobbyists lobbying hard. To see it as some kind of one man band and his sidekick; in some respects it might be like that, I just can't see it holding together.

To see Trump as some kind of invulnerable full dictator is probably a long way off. I think both of them are deluded but then there's little political bottom to either of them. Nearly half the electorate didn't vote for Trump either. As I've said before there will be horrors, towards migrants, legitimisation of post truth and 'very fine people on both sides' white supremicist encouragements. But he's essentially a salesman and a populist who relies on spiel. That can get found out rather quickly and regularly. If his popularity drops it will slow him down.

I hope this wave will meet reality and burn itself out in failure. It wouldn't take much, going by the appointments Trump has made, for his admin. to become a running joke; that's hard to supress. A 'hell of a ride' as you say though as snafu dictates.

The elephant in the room is likely climate change. Four years to start soon and we are already in the foothills. Disasters, economic stresses and populists who can't handle it?
