Is Elon Musk the greatest visionary or the greatest snake oil salesman of our age?

I’m no fan of the provos but if they ever wanted to get the gang back together for one last show then now might be a good time.

(It’s real. I had to wade through the sewer of Cheongs tweets to confirm. I feel icky now.).

Musk and Cheong getting kneecapped might be worth it. My mum lives in Cork, I really fucking hate that Ireland has become the latest playground for reactionary turds to push their bilge.

The hijacking of the flag and Irish nationalism is a fucking disgrace. Fash marching in the streets, newcomers being attacked, property suspected of being earmarked for said newcomers being burnt out, social media dripping with far right pondlife.

Even a few long-term friends starting to believe "Ireland is full" and "looking after our own" narrative.

Depressing as hell.

Big surprise, the Neuralink implant is poorly made garbage:

"Move fast and break things" is not the kind of attitude you want from anyone digging around inside your skull cavity.

Disrupt! (that pre frontal cortex)

neural lace was always a more elegant name and really gave an idea of how, in some far future, it could work. Like a loom or a tapestry, a parallel structure woven within at neuron level. Instead we get this weird apartheid remnant with his 'put chip in brain make work' approach.

The funny thing is that to all appearances, Neuralink is not doing anything new in the realm of brain-machine interfacing. They've only published a white paper so far, yet you'd think that for such a supposedly important development, there'd be a slew of actual research papers in the peer-reviewed literature. But nope.

Right wing bellends:

"Vaccines plant secret chips inside us that the government track us via 5g. BURN THE MASTS!"

Also right wing bellends:

"Yeah that Elon Musk is a ledge. Sign me up for the literal tracking chip."
a chip that is...monitised, of course. like a literal form of monitising your own neural pathways.

absoloutly deranged. not the chip or the idea of the chip, it could end up being great, but the contradiction as you say. mind melting.

Imagine (although I don't think you'll need to) if it was a monthly subscription service, and you can't afford to keep paying it.

Bit of action in Germany:

The other day, a mate of mine was saying that she's started engaging with conspiracy theory content on instagram to see where the algorithm takes her (note: I do not think this sounds like a good idea and would not recommend doing it) and now she keeps getting recommended videos claiming that Elon Musk's been changing the colour of the moon. I know there's a lot of things that Musk can be justifiably criticised for, but I reckon changing the colour of the moon probably isn't one of them.
