Is Elon Musk the greatest visionary or the greatest snake oil salesman of our age?

For properly shit design look at the big semi truck. A nice, central driving position. What a good idea.

“Brilliant” say people who actually drive them for a living, “what do we do when we get to a toll booth”

In the US all tolls are cashless via the appallingly named E-ZPass system now. You pay with a credit card triggered by a transponder in the vehicle.

Not all are yet apparently. And anyone driving a truck in and out of warehouses/distribution centres/factories/building sites inevitably has paperwork to be passed back and forth at gates, entry points and so on.

It's a classic example of people designing something without actually having awareness of how it's used in the real world. The fucking windows don't even wind down to allow passing of said paperwork or talking to anyone

Does anyone remember when Musk tried to demonstrate the unbreakable side windows on the truck, by breaking them! :)

Whatever else, Musk is past peak wealth, I don't think the Tesla valuation will ever again reach its dizzying peak.

And if he has borrowed against its value, he may yet be in trouble.

Also, how do you get your lunch at the drive through?

Jaubrey doing a take down of Musk.

Its quite long (38 minutes), and of you want to look at receipts and evidence you need to pause to read. I’ve listened to it once on increased speed to get the story, and watched it while pausing to check the sources.

I don’t know how accurate it is, or how reliable Jaubrey is as an investigative reporter but theres some pretty damning stuff in here.

14,000 lb. that's nearly infinite, kabbes. everyone knows numbers just stop somewhere around there.
That's about the same as Ford F150:

The redesigned 2021 Ford F-150 has even stronger capabilities to take on fierce competition from the likes of the Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Ram 1500, Toyota Tundra and GMC Sierra 1500. Towing and payload capacities have risen with the latest F-150, up to a class-leading 14,000-pound maximum (class-leading at the time of publication, anyway). A full-hybrid powertrain also joins an already extensive lineup of engines. But how do you unlock the best towing capabilities for each motor? And let’s not forget the myriad ways an F-150 customer can mix and match cabin size, cargo beds and towing option packages. Relax, because this handy guide breaks down everything you need to know about the towing capacity of every variation of the 2021 Ford F-150.

The Tesla website has very little detail.

from the website selling it:

if the sentences are constructed that badly, god help the truck

selling a work truck to people who will never use it for work

could take off in the states saying that

anyone who need a vehicle for this role is not going to fork out 70 grand for the privilege

even if you were daft enough to contemplate it , why would you wreak it when the flat bed is so small

if you're wondering which way the Tesla stock will be heading...

The other car manufacturers’ P/E ratios seem bizarrely low compared with general industry. Technically, it means that if you buy VW, you’ll make your money back in 4.5 years and everything after that is profit. I wonder why it’s so low?

Geez. According to this, Hyundai’s P/E is less than 3. It could buy back over a third of its shares based on one year’s earnings.

Must be to do with the capital intensive nature of the industry and its thin margins that are always at risk. Still, auto makers do look like good value at least based on this measure.

A belief that you're the only real person and everyone else is just a projection for your benefit is one of the classic symptoms of a sociopath.

Really? Is there a name for that particular belief (I mean specifically what you described, not "narcissism" or something)?
