Red Jezza old chum, for me this forum is not a gruelling research project and I'm not going to spend hours searching for references. But that said, there is a small risk to your credibility because if the facts I have stated are true it does not make you look very good does it.
so greebozz, can i take it that you resort to trotting out the same fact-free line every time your arguments get pounded into the dust? you're a bit shit at this, ain'tcha?:D

To say it like the English: O dear... o dear.

Aldebaran and Red Jezza if you are British you should both be charged with treason. Or do you belong to some separate state within Britain.

Idem
Do you ever read posts? Or do you believe the Middle East = UK= British (why would I not be surprized?).
As for "killing you all". Rest assured that I don't have the time and on top of that my swords, used by ancestors in times of other Western crusades, are too heavy for me to handle.

Oh...see...

Now I don't even have the time anymore to read any more of your "posts".

Bye.

salaam.
fights sudden urge to start thread titled "I want to KILL you ALL"

has anyone read the guardian? its well good. and they got this small guide thing on saturday. honest. give it a whirl. only slightly worse than the mail :)

Right. Not to disrupt this thread any further, but I've deleted a load of off-topic posts, and someone who has been previously warned about something has been temp banned, and if there's more there'll be more.

However looking back at posts last night, someone else and their compatriot were engaging in random abuse for the Nth time, wrecking someone else's thread, and all this is a follow-on from that. This post should therefore be considered a similar (and final) warning to them to cut it out.

Yeah, it's all a bit cryptic as I don't want to restart the shite, but the people concerned know who they all are.

(The Guardian, you say? Never heard of that, must be some local paper or something.)

That's almost as simplistic as Edward Bernays argument, in the 20's, that wars were started because "people aren't happy". His solution? Let people consume what they like and bamboozle them with PR and advertising.

Trouble is, it didn't work.

Hi Nino, I have not heard of that guy you mentioned though it seems to me that there is some truth in his idea.
Someone once said war is diplomacy by other means.

What's your opinion on things, why do you think wars start?

Agreeing with someone QFS (quoted for stupidity) doesn't help your argument Greebozz, especially if you have no more to add to our understanding of his philosophy than the original quoter.

Please don't take this personally, I respect you as a human being, but to me your post seems bloody minded, I could not win whatever I said with you. I want to communicate, but I want nothing to do with people who get their rocks off with cutting put downs. So I am putting you on my ignore list.

1. There is no truth in Bernays' thesis that wars can be prevented by allowing people to consume what they want. If that was the case and it really worked, then why have we had so many wars since 1945?

2. There is no easy or straightforward answer to the question "Why do wars start"? However, territory is one reason; economic gain is another. The US fights wars under th cover of "fighting for freedom", yet the countries in which the US wages wars are often full of natural resources or the country refuses to accept the US's unfair conditions of trade. The US has been involved in some form of military action in each decade since 1898, none of those expeditions arose from Americans being 'unhappy'. On the conrtary, they were started with commercial interests in mind. Bear in mind also that the US profitted well from both WW1 and WW2.
