highest paid boss in the uk

Srsly fella.

Teddy Sagi is worth 3.5 billion. Had his brother go to jail for him for a murder he did. Owns Playtech, the largest builder of online games in the world. I worked for him.

William Hill, pokerstars, Ladbroke, 888, pretty much every gaming company you can think of has an Israel base even though Israel bans all gambling apart from sports betting.

Theyve all made way way way more than Denise Coates. She might have created a beast by persuading her dad that online would be the future, bought the domain bey365 and built it from there with her brother (and why no ire for him... Oh, because he stays in the background), but in a world where everything is murky and shit, she's at least raised her head above the parapet to be shot at.

Their are 25000 online casinos. UK citizens can play at about 2500 of them. There is a pt of money in the industry globally and they are currently focusing on the new emerging markets - Africa, India and South America.

There are bugger people to hate than Coates. If you know your shit.

Tobacco firms aren't allowed to sponsor football clubs or stadia. I believe the same is true of alcohol though happy to be proven wrong.

It does really stick on the craw to see gambling firms crawling over football though. There's a responsibility that the football world has to young people and kids that idolise this or that player or support whatever club and to see them exposed to advertising for gambling is obscene. I know it'll be argued that it's upto the parents ultimately but I'd love for football to grow a fucking spine and fuck gambling firms off.

I get that a huge chunk of their client base bet on football but if you must pander tonthem, do it post watershed on TV etc and nowhere near where large amounts of families congregate. I'd love to buy a Celtic shirt but (a) they're sponsored by Dafabet and (b) I'm a fat bastard. Point A is more important though.

Sorry, I know the football thing isn't exactly germane to this discussion but it occurred to me that Stoke are sponsored by Bet365 so.....

Ironically or not, a huge number of professional sportsmen are also addicted to gambling, so these companies get their advertising money back via them.

They are brilliant, aren't they.

The fun stops organically, like when someone loses their month's wages.

Indeed.

The road to Successville:

1. Create a “business” model around engineering a compulsive behaviour loop. Hone levels of addictiveness and rate of yield using the best neuroscience available.

2. Profit. Big profit. Associated social destruction.

3. Divert attention from latter by putting a warning on your product.

4. Embed an implied narrative in your warning saying: “don’t worry, these games are fun but you’ll get bored after a bit so no harm done. Just a flutter. Like the lottery, innit”.

5. Knighthoods, associated plaudits, distant sound of a lefty muttering somewhere.

Would Sir like a little crack with his virtual roulette tokens today?

In many ways you've just described lots and lots of apps including Facebook, FarmVille and Candycrush.
