Have you had the vaccine WITH POLL

Have you had your first Covid jab?

  • Poll closed .
Had my first dose January 28th (designated “extremely vulnerable” due to CPOD and asthma). Was very impressed by the professionalism and good organisation of the staff at the vaccination centre and even more impressed when I learned they were nearly all volunteers.

Yesterday got text inviting me for second dose next week so that will be within 12 weeks. First dose Pfizer, no ill effects (aside from a sore arm). Will be interested to see if second dose is also Pfizer.

Several friends or neighbours had AstraZeneca and felt tired or under the weather for a day or so. I have heard the second Pfizer dose can cause some ill-effects. I’ll find out next week!

I used to be fine with needles, and then I started to do an anticipatory jump as it went in, so I just stare into space now, which works just fine
It's a great regret of mine that I didn't manage to give blood more than once.
Perhaps that will be a project for retirement where I need to earn house points with the French government ...

Hmm. Used to be banned if you'd lived in the UK between certain years because of mad cow disease. No idea if that's changed. (And didn't matter if you are/were veggie either.)

Blimey.
Well that's one bullet I dodged - I stopped eating mammals and birds before I knew Macdonalds existed ...

They would be stuffed these days if they ruled people out for tattoos....

The French f-d up big time with blood in the 90s - knowingly giving HIV to haemophiliacs ...

Having my 1st jab tomorrow, at a local chemist, I could have had it before now if I was prepared to travel further but I couldn't be arsed  :D . A Work mate decided to go a bit furthet for the jab, he went to the Crick Institute in Kings Cross as he'd always wanted to have a look indoors.:D

You have to wait a few months after getting a tattoo before donating blood. Knowing this, I donated about three days before getting my tattoo. Which was not a good idea either as it turns out, tattoos themselves involving a non-trivial loss of blood.

I am pretty sure that if your first dose was Pfizer your 2nd dose will be Pfizer. OH was told that the 1st and 2nd shots have to be the same type.

EDIT: Actually not going to get into a discussion about that here, it would be a massive off topic, post removed.

Had mine this morning , squeezing in to the top 32 million I reckon. Bit of a foul up from me , I thought it was booked after booking it , but needed to confirm from an email or text message and didn't confirm  but the woman said a lot of people had done that , they could give me the jab, and did

I had a text saying I should get notification of second dose within next 3-4 weeks.
Good on you :), and interesting about the text .....

My second jab isn't due (worst case) until around about 3rd June-ish -- that date is exactly twelve weeks after my first, on Thursday 11th March.

But I hope my second vaccination comes somewhat earlier, and from what I was told here in Wales, there could be a fair chance of that happening :)

But I expect I'll get a letter rather than a text, because that's what happened last time.

You feel like you have flu days after the vaccine at the weekend?
yep. vaccine at 2pm sunday felt ok till bedtime. Then couldn't get warm actual shivering all night. Ached all over bit of headache and really exhausted, Wed started coughing and wheezy. If I hadn't been isolating for weeks I would have been convinced I was coming down with a chest infection. Girlfriend had similar syptoms. Both fine now

Another week on...

200 Urbz jabbed. Hooray for round numbers! That's 25 'YES' votes added to the poll this week, though not all were jabbed this week. Represents 71.4% of those in the poll.

Running total average is 23.5 jabs per week.

Poll participation has increased to 280, up 21.

'NO' votes down to 80 from 84. Boo! Need to shift more of them.

Really not shifting those 'NO' votes.

223 Urbz contributing to the poll are jabbed. Up from 200 last week. 23 is the weekly running average. 223/300 = 74.3%.

77 still vote NO, only down 3 from last week.

Poll participation is 300 exactly. Up another 20 from last week.

I've just had another text, this one inviting me and other members of my household to a walk in (no appointment needed) clinic on Wednesday. I think given OH's experience with a no-appointment-needed walk in clinic (6.5 hours queuing outside) I'll stick with the set time appointment I have booked at a different location on Thursday afternoon!

I have searched and can't find an answer....

Does the gap between 1st and 2nd jab depend on which vaccine or just how fast your country/trust/area are getting through people?
The nurse did tell me when getting first jab (think they said 5 weeks) but it's not written on the little card they give you
Thanks

In the UK, the gap between doses for both vaccines is around 12 weeks, this has been wildly reported & subject to discussion on urban for months, how the fuck don't you know this?

Come on, I think ddraig raises a fair question there though -- in actual practice, does the wait for the second jab last twelve weeks, or fewer than that?

And how supply-dependant in different areas is that wait between first jab and second?
Definitely worth asking, IMO. Not that I have any answer myself
