And in keeping with the nature of that kind of animal he can often *say* the right thing about Israel's brutal treatment of the Palestinians, about our state's murderous foreign adventures, about the US and UK's hypocrisy and lies. He's dished out some fantastic tongue lashings to New Labour, then US govt, Sky news etc.
I'd rather have more like him, and less like the spineless Zachor

This more or less sums up my view too.
GG may sometimes hit the nail on the head on some issues (mainly US imperialism and the mess that is the Middle East) but his politics and his way of doing politics are if anything damaging to the political left.
In a way the collapse of Respect and the licking of the wounds that the SWP leadership and GG had to do can only be good in the long run in that it will open up space for a more serious and grassroots movement with a focus on more real issues that effect the poor and the working class, much in the way the LCAP (London Coalition Against Poverty) and similiar groups are doing.
But, Zachor's politics stink too, probably more so than GGs and the fact that GG may be a cunt who has fucked up past attempts to build and develop a left wing alternative to the current status quo, does not make Zachor any less of a war mongering, imperialist and boderline racist (check some of his posts on Zimbabwe/Africa and elsewhere) cunt.

Sometimes to save lives you have to forget the dogma and just get on with it. Iraq was a disaster but that doesn't totally discredit a policy of liberal interventionism. How the criteria for intervention are formed is a matter of debate but the policy is a proper and moral one.
