Glastonbury 2005

Right, packing list complete, all various bits bought this weekend, citizen card arrived on Friday, last of the pharmacy being bought tonight.

Feel like a little kid 3 days before Xmas...

Weather looking a little ropier than first thought - looked at the metcheck site and it says that it's gonna rain on the Sat/Sun...

I just finished assembling the back pack and camping stuff into one easily carriable unit.

It's HUGE  Thank fuck I'll only have to walk to Temple Meads with it tomorrow.

24 hours and I'll be on the bus :)
Cooool!

Can I nip round and pick up my tupaware? It's going to glastonbury too (all the other tupaware is sooooo jealous!)

:)

Course you can :)

You got my number? Text when you get downstairs

Ooh right, now, time to get packing :)

Somewhere, in the flat, in bits, is a tent...

The French Army kitbag (bargain from Camden Lock Market in 1999) is in the kitchen (of course, where else...?)

The sleeping bag's over there ---> from 6 months ago when a friend kipped on the couch.

The clothes are mostly ready.

The Übertrolley needs its tyres pumped up.

God knows where the camping stove and espresso maker* are. :D

* yes it's decadent but there's nowt like coffee in the morning!

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Edit: progress report
Tent: Found the whole lot and actually managed to put it back in the bag this time. Patched up the hot rock hole in the bottom of the plastic groundsheet...
Airbed: in the cupboard.

Airbed pump: Still on top of the fridge where I left it last year - didn't take it cause of the weight.
Torch: Found that a few days ago & put new cheapo batteries in it
Clothes: More than enough ;)
Rope: in the cupboard. I've taken the rope twice & never found a use for it! Sod's law says that if I didn't take it I would find a use soon enough!
Gas for stove: Lying on living room floor.
Stove itself: Turned living room upside down and finally found it in a cupboard.
Espresso maker: Missing! It'll turn up tho, I have a vague idea where it is. It might be mouldy...
Soap: in the bathroom; dunno whether to take shampoo and conditioner too; might as well... Dunno if I'll be brave enough to use the mixed showers
Razor and shaving stuff: in the bathroom
Books (they do advise take a book in case it r**ns): Dunno, I'll find some to take...
Beer: still to get.

Anything else, I can buy :)

Don't think I do JTG, could you PM it?

I'll swing by after work or summat, it'll make even more excited to see you all ready to go!

Cheers love!

gettin excited now! still havent finalised how im getting there, however i can get a return train ticket to castle cary for just under £30. three changes on the way tho, and i still have to get the shuttle bus to the festival. will have to pack light

better go check out the old tent this afternoon aswell.

I am sooooo organised it doesn't bear thinking about! All is packed and strapped to the trolley which will go in the car ready loaded to make it easier at the other end (I think  ). Got money, got tickets, got id. Master Felixthekitten still has to pack his kit - which knowing him will mean chucking a couple of t-shirts in a bag just before I threaten to leave him behind on wednesday morning  .

Being this well prepared worries me - I bet I'll have forgotten something vital.......

(remembers hasn't packed sunscreen..... )

anyone know where I can find that 360 panorama of the stone circle that was posted on the Glastonbury boards a couple of weeks back..I can't find it for the life of me.

13 hours more work and I'm out of here :D

Turned flat upside down and finally found it in the cupboard under the sink.....where i looked first  at self :D

All theseposts about peeps who have completely packed (and even strapped  ) worry me.

I have the gear, and even visited a camping emporium today, but forsee a hell of disorganised sorting and packing tomorrow and an even worse one of failing to find stuff at the other end of journey .

And all in far too humid an atmosphere

Roof Rack & Wax

Glasto preperations nearly complete....
Take car to Halfords to get roof rack fitted - check (4 people, 3 tents and many bags will not fit inside our 1 car)
and the final pre-Glasto task to be carried out tomorrow lunch time...leg wax

Coming down Thursday morning (with J77) - wot time at cider bus on Thursday...we're leaving early so should be on site by 8.30am :D

last night was so excited about Glasto couldn't sleep!

fuck! i haven't done any packing and forgot to get a mack and aftersun today!

i have thought about it and i'm a bit lucky as my mates who are driving from london have my tent and roll mat.
a £10 jobby from tesco, and a knackered one from previous shinding which may be a candidate for pk style butchery

gonna get the train to castle cary and back from cardiff, leaving tomorrow bout 2pm and obviously coming back on monday, know that'll be hell. and got to get back to cardiff for 1pm, oh no. might try and pay/blag a lift back or to a better station.

haven't been sleeping too well, will have to knock myself out tonight

see someof you there hopefully, woooohooooo :)

safe journeys all :D

Bloody Hell! My mate delivered his tent this evening for me to transport, lug a mile from the west car parks to Dragon & erect. Brand new, never been out of the bag, so I thought I should at least familiarise myself with how to put it up before we go. Guess what. No instructions! Just googled for it & it's a bloody monster!

...and this is as well as my 6-man "Tort Towers" and my usual 5-man festival tent!!! If anybody sees me struggling along the railway with this lot as well as 24 cans of beer, an 80 litre rucksack & all my other camping mod-cons please feel free to give me a shove cos if it's anything like as hot as it has been the last few days I'll be dead before I get there.

edit - *wonders if bees is up for a challenge * :D

I haven't packed yet but I have been busy - as well as sewing a new back drop for PROD's Glasto appearance , I've also converted an old tent into an awning for the camper van and made it some curtains.
We have Shirl's preliminary radiotherapy appointment tomorrow followed by a Glasto shopping trip to stock up on the essentials (mainly litre bottles of Baileys ;) ) then we'll start packing tomorrow afternoon.

The whole thing is supposed to be enjoyable rather than a military style expedition ...

My housemates have suddenly realised that they have no one to camp with. Are non-urbanites welcome at Camp Urban? It'll be two ladies who'll get on just fine with everyone :) (EDIT: not like that you dirty sods!) They'd be arriving late in the evening, so I might take their tent with me and pitch it for them.

Just thought I'd check for opinions etc.

Apparently The Brakes are playing Glas this year. Who, I hear you enquire? Well, they're a kind of Brighton indie supergroup comprising members of British Sea Power, Tenderfoot and the terminally underrated Electric Soft Parade. I caught them on Steve Lamacq this evening and they rock some ass...they've just released an album out which consists of 26 tracks and lasts for all of 28 minutes. Which frankly makes The Ramones look like Genesis. Check it out folks! :)

Eme's not coming down till later, so I'm going to be carrying a ten ton tent, a shedload of backbreaking camping peripherals plus my camera gear and emergency urban75 log-on equipment on the train Wednesday.

PS Don't forget the procedure if you meet any cool bands/DJs at Glasto.

"Hi. Love your stuff. Would you like to play Offline for two pints of beer?"...

Yeah should be if it's the one I think they are since they already know a fair few of us - can't imagine there would be a huge fuss over it anyway :p

You can just register them today and they'd be urbanites ;)
