Galloway's Workers' Party of Britain

It seems that now you don't have to pay ALL your own expenses, if you stand for election to Parliament for the WPB; just a lot of them.

"During this early stage in our development, candidates must be expected to contribute financial resources to the expenses of campaigning wherever possible although we will try to subsidise what we can from funds raised elsewhere. What are you prepared to contribute to your own campaign in terms of both money and time?"

tbh, in lots of cases it will just be some egomaniac loon who wants to make a noise. I suppose any party will want to stand the maxim number of candidates, but you wouldn't wanna spend actual money on the no hope arseholes.

Standing the maximum number of candidates is not a good strategy. It would be best to concentrate forces in a small number of seats. Candidates should not be chosen on account of their ability to pay.

I'd largely agree. But I do see the argument that 'we are standing 100 candidates' sounds better than 'we are standing in the half dozen seats we can sustain a campaign in.' Its rampant ego, the belief that the holy name, George of Galloway, will transcend all shortcomings in this instance, but it isn't inherently an awful idea.

It was not immediately clear whether Galloway’s intentions were serious or yet another example of his bluster.

He said on Friday, however, that he was being genuine: “Oh yeah, yeah definitely,” he said, before refusing to comment any further – “especially to the Guardian”

I very much doubt he would stand . If he did he’d get hammered. For many in Manchester Burnham is seen as the Labour leader that they’d like instead of Starmer and almost nothing to do with the London centric Labour Party .

1.4% when he stood for London mayor.
he's a one trick pony now who knows how to drum up a protest vote at parliamentary bye-elections.

Looks like their newest recruit is a council candidate in Rotherham who's a veteran of the anti-trans (and anti drag queen story telling) protests in Honor Oak. Protests where he lined up with Lawrence Fox, Turning Point UK, the fake vicar and ex C18 members. They've been called out on it but still full support for their man.

Sounds perfect for them

I have seen a claim that a Workers Party council candidate in Calderdale stood last time for the Conervative Party.
