England vs Italy (Group D) Saturday 14th June 2014

Just you wait for the inevitable loss on penalties to Germany. :(
as a Scot I'm used to crushing disappointment on the pitch. :(

The upside of this attitude is puppy-like enthusiasm at the slightest victory because my expectations are so low :D

watched the first half in the pub, back home now, took ages to get served, didn't have a seat - now I have beer and a seat  on the plus side - one of the pub managers bought me a pint

As I was just about to say before that goal went in, I've been surprised by how easily the likes of Sterling and Sturridge have got away from Italian defenders - turning and leaving them for dead a number of times.

Now if we can just turn that into a couple of goals...

I'm only watching this shite so I get to drink cider and eat salted nuts on my own without feeling like a 100% loser.
The sport is uninspiring though. It aint rugby...

Just back from walking the dog up the park and it was completely deserted which believe it or not is uncommon around here even at this time of night as it's a good cut through to other places and lots of people have dogs.

Anyway...lovely warm night, deserted fields, foxes playing and a beautifully low, fullish moon hanging super bright and resplendent just above the tree tops...whole field lit up...awwwwwwwwwwwwww.... Lots of windows open wide in the houses around the park...lots of chatter, cheering etc echoing across the field....then a build up of energy/voices...shouts, cheers, singing, goallllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll...As much as I hate the international corporate sports machine and have no idea who scored, it sounded fun. :)

I am not having a good WC bet - was looking good for England 2-1 with Sturridge scoring first ...then
