Dinesh D'Souza (US author/twat) scrapes the barrel with Greta Thunberg/Nazi children comparison

Sky News (Australia) claiming this young girl is a victim of child abuse by being pushed as a spear head of climate change hysteria:

Just the fact that she triggers the worstest most creepiest people in the world into apoplexy is good enough for me. Anything after that is a bonus.

Aren’t you concerned of the potential damage this could be causing such a young girl with multiple disorders?

Self-Harm Versus the Greater Good: Greta Thunberg and Child Activism - Quillette

But adults have a moral obligation to remain adults in relation to children and not be carried away by emotions, icons, selfies, images of mass protests, or messianic or revolutionary dreams.

Greta was recently named ”Woman of the Year” by a Swedish newspaper. But she is not a woman, she is a child. It is time we stopped to ask if we are using her, failing her, and even sacrificing her, for what we perceive to be a greater good.

Quillette eh... Riiiiight....

but she has the vocabulary of an adult

Not sure what your point is as she’s still a child. A child with Asperger’s syndrome, high-functioning autism, and OCD.

But I guess as long as she gets exposure for her climate handlers, her exploitation will be overlooked.

The main downside I see to reversing climate change is that these cunts will also survive...

This shitweasal forgets said 15 year old was taken to Afghanistan when he was 10 by his jihadist dad. JIHADIS are of course famous for encouraging questioning and critical thinking.
He was captured after a firefight true, only survivor but no evidence he threw the grenade. US forces did save his life but only so they could repeatidly torture him:eek:.
Accusing him of a war crime is pretty dubious as the US had bombed and strafed the compound and thought they'd killed everyonr

Always thought it was a bit weird to refer to 16-17 year olds as "children" with no qualification, despite it being legally accurate. I'm fairly sure Greta knows what she's doing, even if she looks like Pippi Longstocking, but since she's a political activist and "child" is such a powerful rhetorical term it'll be applied right up to when she's seventeen and 364 days old, both by supporters and detractors.

Listening to the Sky news dipshit pretend to be worried about "child abuse" was good for a laugh, though, as is "adults have a moral obligation to remain adults and not be carried away by [...] images of mass protests". Perhaps one day when you grow up and become a mature adult, you too will understand that protesting is for children. Alas, some will remain forever immature - what a pity!

What "climate handlers"? Where are you getting this fucking shit from?

What are her arrangements in that regard by the way - is one of her parents usually travelling with her?
(I really don't know that much about her)

What "climate handlers"?

How 16-year-old Greta Thunberg's rise could backfire on environmentalists

Just how inspiring or even persuasive you find Greta’s speeches and overall activism likely depends on where you stand on the political spectrum. There are plenty of politicians and regular voters claiming to be inspired by her words and passion. There are also lots of observers expressing general alarm at what they see as an indoctrinated child being coerced by adults to make their political arguments with her youth as a shield from any criticism.

Interesting how implicit in all this anti-greta stuff is the denial that the climate change movement has been growing in profile, scientce, evidencef, activists, direct actions etc for decades now. Whose interests are being served by pretending that it's just the word of one teenager from Europe?

I'm not a fan of the theory of over population theories but your posts make me think they have some merit.

"Lots of right wing and big business observers.." you mean. She may be young but she's fucking destroying their arguments so all they have left is pathetic personal insults. And that's all you have left too, it seems.

It could be true both that we are in deep shit with the environment and have a great deal to do, and also that this kid needs some stability and not to be constantly shunted around and prodded with the subjects that make her anxiety disorder much worse.

I don't know much about her, and knew even less until I saw her speech (except for a few reports of some nicely pithy comments), but I could feel that anxiety in my gut when watching her - she clearly wasn't acting. It's not going to be doing her any good.

Re: "triggering" - I can see why some opponents would be annoyed by eco-groups doing the effective equivalent of using a kitten as a shield. Frankly, fuck 'em. They're taking the exact lines of attack that you'd expect.
But Greta isn't a climate scientist, everything she knows about this stuff has been conveyed by adults and it's not fair to hide behind her. She's not the only very young person involved in this, and I did read in one place that a couple had already dropped out due to anxiety and stress.

They hope to discredit and destroy her and get back to business as usual. More growth forever! More billionaires! Fuck the rainforests and all those silly scientists.

Greta isn't the only child that has been speaking up. A number of children from all over the world have been testifying both before the UN and Congress:

Yes, Greta seems to have been very much in the spotlight out of all of them (read a few competing theories last night on why this is).

Of course, she's never been the only child speaking up, but that doesn't take away from her achievements. I can't even begin to imagine how many people are plotting to silence her right now.

As this website points out, there's not a little bit of misogyny in going after this girl:

Greta Thunberg, the 16-year-old Swedish climate change activist, has become the new target for rightwing men, who are losing their shit over a teenager. On Fox News on Monday night, Michael Knowles, a conservative troll and Daily Wire podcast host, described Thunberg as a “mentally ill Swedish child” who is “being exploited by her parents and by the international left.” Then there’s John Nolte of Breitbart, who calls supporters of Thunberg “Gretards” and recently mused that Thunberg needed “a spanking or a psychological intervention.” And Harry Cherry, a conservative “journalist,” felt the need to call her a “freak” before apologizing (though he has continued to tweet out disparaging articles about Thunberg).

While it’s not only men who feel threatened by Thunberg—Ann Coulter called Knowles’s segment “SPECTACULAR” and Laura Ingraham compared her to Stephen King’s Children of the Corn—it is largely adult, white, conservative men who attack her youth, her Asperger’s, and paint her as irrational and unwell. The gendered nature of these attacks is clear. As Martin Gelin wrote in the New Republic, Thunberg has attracted a “tsunami of male rage,” a rage that can be partly explained by the links between climate change denial and a particular type of affronted, aggrieved man who believes their masculinity is under attack from all sides. Climate change has become “feminized,” and it’s become one of the new targets for conservative men’s culture war. “What was once a practical problem, with general agreement on the facts, has become a matter of identity,” Gelin noted.
