Detail your latest clothes and slap related purchases here #2

Relatively extravagant - 2 of the Vivienne Westwood red nose day cap sleeve & semi-fitted t shirts - one with the punk, one with the courtesan. Thinking of wearing them when going through passport control this autumn. :hmm:

1 long sleeve lightweight jersey tunic with hankerchief hem and 3 contrasting strips of fabric radiating down form the neck - long enough for a 5 footer to wear with leggings or as a dress.

1 white cotton/linen sleeved top for summer use - white embroidery on the centre front panel, and it's slightly tailored (less likely to make me look like a sack of spuds).

oh, and i won an ebay auction for a white t-shirt with a white square printed on it, with the word 'minimalist' printed in white under that.

I just bought a pair of Converse black leather sneakers. The laces are so short that I can't tie them in a bow

Am I missing something, is there some young peoples trendy way of fastening shoes without tying the laces? They cost me £50, I'm fed up that I now have to spend more money on some long enough laces

Yes, you buy trainers etc a size or two smaller than the right size, so that they're kept on by your foot being wedged in extra hard. Then you walk around with the laces undone. The habit has been around for over a decade.

Edited to add: I don't do it, and it can badly damage your feet if you do the too small & unlaced look for too long.

Jesus, are you serious? How stupid is that

I'm just going to have to buy some proper length laces but not until I've complained about the rediculously short ones :(

i think they tie them a few holes down shirl - as if they were low tops rather than high tops.

I tried that but my feet came out when I walked :(

I've just had another look at the site. Maybe I am misleading you, I thought they called them sneakers but a look at sneakers seems to mean ankle high. These are like what we used to call pumps although they seem to come higher up your foot.

I'm serious. It's mostly teenagers who do it. Not terrible if you only crunch your feet up for a couple of hours a week, (and never all day) but otherwise... let's just say v ugly and painful feet by the time they hit 25.

BTW have just bought 2 pairs of Hi-tec trainers (over the phone) - silver shadows, plus a pair of (white, blue & silver) R100 running shoes. :)

Yesterday I bought a green/greyish linen and cotton short top by Humanoid, it's my new favourite brand. I'd post a picture but I can't.

I'm still umming about these boots:

They fit round my calves, which is a bloody miracle :D but they're really wide in the foot and I have silly narrow feet... will that mean blisters? They're really nice and well made, and black, and they were on offer...

...they will give me blisters won't they? :(

I'm wearing trousers that I bought in early 2010 and they were too big but I couldn't be arsed to take them back. Then in October 2010 they were too small! But today they fit

They are ruched ankle beige thingies, you know the things.

hmm, insole might work, but there's about half a cm (maybe more) on either side of my foot. Thick socks might mean they won't look as nice done up, or won't do up... I'll check.

any shoe shop worth its salt will let you try them on again with an insole, so you can check :)

my edith piaf dress finally arrived. it fits :D it needs a damn good ironing before i can take pics but i'm not going near it with anything hot today, i've only had 3 hours sleep...

picked up a few charity shop scores - a white versace shirt and a light brown ginham wrangler shirt, for a couple of quid each.

i was considering an alpaca wool waistcoat, but then remembered i wasn't an awful hippie.

i've been ironing this all afternoon and it's still wrinkly. i really must stop calling it my edith piaf dress cos it's nothing like what i was looking for originally.
