But if I had navy leggings (it's for work so jeggings/jeans are a no, sorry forgot to mention that :D) what shoes/boots would I wear?

I have a bright turquoise cardigan with it and I'm swishing about the place like you do with new clothes on :D

There in lies the problem. Not very many. I have GORGEOUS brown boots but they're dead (for work especially), the leather has started to fuzz up. I have black slouchy ankle boots (what I'm wearing today, they jingle like Father Christmas' sleigh too). I have some shoes but not many I can walk in (either too high for work or because they just don't really fit) or I have 2 pairs of ballet shoes but they're too fucking cold in this weather :(

I'm redoing my wardrobe so don't mind investing, I just need some ideas about what is a good thing to invest in. Being a size 9 makes things a little more complicated than it needs to be tbh.

I cant wear tights :( I'm flat footed and I think my big toe lies in such a way I just rub holes in the toes in a day :( it's too expensive for me. I'd LOVE to wear brogues. I need to find a solution to it tbh.

Pop socks? I'm not sure about the solution of leggings then shoes. I'm out my comfort zone now :D

But my clarks brogues are dead comfy.

another question if I may. How much do you all reckon you spend a month on clothes? I don't want specifics of course :D But after about 5 years of only buying maternity stuff, or things in sales on an OH MY GOD I'VE GOT NO CLOTHES basis I feel that I'm so out of touch with it all.

I'll work it out, I LOVE tights :D especially the colours you just can't get in leggings. And then I can have nice shoes...

I work out at £100 a year I reckon. £50 twice a year. But that might not include shoes, coats and bras.

I'm not sure if that's frivolous as it's not like I'm gainfully employed. It's certainly gone up in correlation with frequency of going outdoors.

I'd wear boots or ballet flats, depending on time of year and how far I had to walk (I can't wear ballet pumps for long).

I spend... A lot. But I have no kids and I almost never go anywhere that costs money. I try to limit it to somewhere around £100 a month. Try to. Honest.

It's my hobby.

I think the issue is my wardrobe is SO shit, that I'm looking at just buying from scratch. Apart from my 2 Lady V dresses, everything is at least 6 years old and it really looks it.

I buy a lot - I need plenty of work clothes (usually a black frock with coloured cardi or jacket). Having said that, I also recycle and refashion old and second-hand Ebay clothes too. A lot of my new stuff is from ASOS, which is quite cheap. Oh, and I have an incurable Doc Marten habit, as you know, which usually amounts to 4-5 pairs a year. My cheap plastic jewellery soon mounts up, too!

I'm going to say about 60 to 70 quid a month, although it varies wildly depending on my job prospects. Only spent a tenner last month as I thought I might be out of work, for example. Job contract extended? Spend spend spend! You get the picture. I think of it as a hobby as well and sell a fair bit on Ebay to try and recoup some losses.

About twice a year I spend loads. I just went and bought a new job lot of workwear- it really was expensive even though I mostly bought in the sales. I don't have a clothes budget per se. Big fan of funky necklaces- three black dresses and loads of cool jewellery sorts me out for work. And black basics with contrasting coloured jackets too- so I look suited without having to buy an actual suit. I hate suits

I almost never wear black. Plain black (for me) is only really for funerals, though I do have one black Lacey smock dress I wear as part of a gothy, biker look.

I used to wear black, but I feel too anonymous. I like paintbox colours : red, emerald, mint, Schiaparelli pink, royal blue. I'm experimenting with yellow. Purple is my mum's colour, Biba colours are too... something. They remind me of my goth years, but at the same time feel too grown up.

Never wear brown, orange, pastels, cream, beige... Wary of navy.

Things coordinate because they're dresses, so they don't have to, iyswim. Darker colours and patterns including black in winter with tights, boots and a cardigan (red, black, pink - I've quite a stock of little cardigans and shrugs). In summer, lighter colours (and most of the dark ones) work with bare legs (plus comfort shorts), and a neutral sandal or Mary Jane. Last year I found a low-sheen gold Mary Jane pump that I loved, so bought two more pairs. Goes with absolutely everything. B

I still wear lots of black as it does the work/not work crossover thingy quite well for blokes. They do dress down Friday at mine now and I can get away with decent jeans, boots and a shirt if it's all in black, even if my mate did start singing 'Ring Of Fire' by Johnny Cash when I walked in last week. He was taking the piss but I took it as a massive compliment. :D

I probably have two or three big splurges a year of about £80 a year. Ordering everything I like and sending back what doesn't fit/ look good and not worry about how much I keep.

There are probably about another 3 times a year I then just want things and buy them.

I reckon my clothes (not counting socks, knickers etc) spend a year is around £300.

I wonder if I actually did a credit card analysis that would be the same? A quite day at work project one day
