A coat! A new winter coat. Sadly not a cape or the beautiful Westwood red faux fur creation as that went for 400 quid but this 60s/70s green wool coat which I really rather like.

That's a lovely coat zenie

I have been looking for new block boots fro absolutely ages but because i'm small the knee highs tend to be too long for me, cutting my leg off in a terrible place. I've ordered abut 6 pairs so far and sent them all back but today I got these Merrell boots (not a brand I"m familiar with tbh)

and they are amazingly comfy, i can wear them with jeans as well as tights/leggings and they're the right height. Hurrah. The leather feels almost like suede or something, even though the description says it's full grain leather, so I'm going to spray them with some protective stuff but they are great Autumn boots. Hurrah.
I thought they looked and felt a bit like fitted wellies when I first put them on

Glad you've found a pair you're happy with at last. :D They're already waterproof, so no need to spray (except to prevent salt stains), I checked on the website. BTW Merrell do a lot of outdoor activity gear.

I found these ancient kids brogues on the bootmarket this morning - I hope they'll fit one of my kids 'cause they're just too cute for words. My dad thinks they're 1950s or 60s:

also, these gorgeous Church's semi-brogues, which are a similar age, we speculate from the same house clearance (I forgot Church's and Cheaney's in the brogue line-up Voley - you can add them to your search. And Hoggs). Unfortunately they're a bit small. Not that I need any new shoes. A quid a pair, though!

killer b those Church's are gorgeous! The mini brogues are really sweet too.

They are the best thing I've seen today iona. The unicorns :D:D:D:thumbs:

I bought some boring, padded bum, reflective, fleecy winter longs for my bike. But blagged a bargain (inasmuch as bike wear is ever a bargain) due to wonky pricing  Now I want iona's hardcore unicorns instead though.

I currently have the raging shoe horn for these:

Sigh. They're even nicer irl.

I just got my winter stuff out so now feel like I have ALL the clothes. I also have a big bag of stuff for swappage.

Currently wearing my much loved and ancient sweater dress from Uniqlo. With my new discovery - fleecy on the inside tights from TKMaxx. They are soo comfy and cosy.

This from Uniqlo.

Not the best or nicest one available but for 4 time less than ones I did want, it still feels like a quality item. It really is rather comfy and cosy :)

Best is relative. That's a nice investment. I particularly like the outside chest pocket, perfect for a phone.

I have 12 down jackets including high-spec technical models from manufacturers like Arc’teryx, Montane, Rab, PhD and Patagonia. And also two from Uniqlo (one ultralight) and I rate them highly. I’ve had one similar to yours for about ten years and it still looks great.

The advantage of Uniqlo down jackets over the mountaineering models is that they have a decent DWR coating. Mine has been through some downpours and the rain has never permeated the outer membrane making them perfect for the UK’s wet weather. The high end models are too warm for urban use and are designed for cold, dry environments meaning that you need to wear a hardshell on top to protect the down from rain.

I like the sound of those tights!

Rebelda, where were your sexy fleecy bike tights from? :hmm: my knees were bloody freezing this morning!

Hey Bee, they're Altura. Lycra leggings but with a fleecy inside. Pretty standard I think, I hope I haven't oversold them  got them in London fields cycles. Because there were some of no discernible difference for £10 less the nice staff let me have 'em for the lower price. Hope they don't get in trouble!

I got fleecy on the inside tights from American apparel in a flash sale last week. They're pretty lush

Are they ok to cycle in? In 10 years I've never had fleecy lined lycra, but I'm feeling the cold more now  I'll have a search online, ta :)

I think my leggings budget has been blown for the next year with those jeggings, but I haven't bought any cycling gear for years now.

On a completely different note, holiday/party season is coming up. I have fuck all to wear, I'm really not in a good place with clothes atm. But I do have a nice black pencil skirt... what sort of top could I wear with it?

Glittery vest top of some variety? Or a funky blouse of some sort maybe?

Where does one buy something like that?

e2a: I will google :D although with vest top I then have the issue of arm coverage. Even typing this makes me want to hide ffs.

Bought a new Kipling handbag this morning in the Amazon Black Friday sale. Yeah Amazon are sh1ts and all that. Just reminding you all to check the sales if you're that way inclined.

i quite often wear a vest with some sort of sheer voluminous wafty thing over the top of it. H&M have some good ones. Means you're covering all the bits without looking like you're covered iyswim.

I'm the Goldilocks of coats atm. I have a camel coat from tesco that is a little small, particularly on the arms. I also have a blue ASOS duffel from ebay that's too big. Ffs. I can get the blue duffel in the right size but for 20-30 quid more from a different seller but I don't think I can send the other back.

I also don't know whether to keep the camel one. I really like it and would fit fine if I lost a bit of weight but I need it now. Hmph

....and so you should, it's a splendid coat and you look splendid in it

Those look like just the thing I was after tbh. And a quid a pair! Fucking hell.

I didn't get brogues in the end (well I did but they didn't fit so I'm changing them for a bigger pair) but did like the sound of Loakes so bought these:

Loake_zps433829ab.jpg

which came in at just over twenty quid after P&P and I'm very pleased with them. Nice fit, will go well with new suit purchased for work and built to last, you can tell.

See what you mean about Paul Smiths. I bought these, too:

PaulSmith_zpsa22d657b.jpg

They're alright but a bit poncey for me tbh and probably won't last five minutes. But I'll wear them to work a few times if I'm having a suit day and if I'm not met with howls of derision I shan't put them back up for sale. Sixteen quid inc P&P so can't argue.

I have my eye on some Grenson Oxfords too but there's a few bids in on them already so they may go for proper money. Plus my shoe/boot collection is in danger of going a bit Imelda Marcos. I say that just to keep moose happy, you understand.
