Detail your latest clothes and slap related purchases here #2

I'm not sure about it either. I say send it back. There's no point buying things for them to just gather dust because you don't actually wear them.

I like it but if you're not sure about something you should send it back, you'll end up only wearing it a couple of times and not feeling comfortable when you do. I'm guessing that the price of a leather skirt's going to be the kind of amount where you could buy something you love and will wear again and again.

Plus H&M's home delivery is indeed rubbish

Nowt wrong with Travis as a style icon. Get one! I've got Alpha Industries coats I bought 25 years ago, you definitely get your money's worth.
Done. One proper Alpha industries M-65 arrived from Silvermans today.

Think of a fat Travis Bickle with no mohawk wearing black, not vietnam vet olive and you'll get the look I'm aiming for. :D

Thanks to monsterbunny ViolentPanda Sprocket. danski and of course your good self moose for purchasing advice.

It's worth paying the extra for a proper Alpha Industries one, I reckon, even if they're no longer made to the 'will withstand a bomb blast' spec of the really old ones. Looks like it'll still take a lot of battering, though, and that's what I was after. Lots of VERY DEEP POCKETS for LOTS OF POINTLESS KIT, too, which is very important to me, obviously. It's been a while since I spent over a ton on an item of clothing but I'm very pleased all in all. :)

I now need to spend some time perfecting my thousand yard stare.

This is very very good advice, and I should probably say that I am the kind of person who buys things that gather dust. Some things (hello asymmetric hem black skirt covered in mexican day of the dead skulls. I will wear it one day. Probably :hmm::oops:), I also buy stuff that earns its cost. So take my maybe-ing with a pinch of salt ;)

Can't decide whether to keep this leather skirt that finally arrived today from H&m (their online delivery is unbelievably shit). It's a bit short, and maybe not that flattering? Advise me, urbz.

I say spend more money and get a leather skirt you love.

Thanks folks. Definitely going back, which is also a bloody pain at H&M, who need to get with the programme with their online shopping. On a related matter, I really wanted a pair of tan leather culottes I saw in the flagship store on Regent Street but couldn't justify the £200 price tag. I then saw the very same ones online for half the price (but sold out in my size). Wt actual f? Customer services could not explain why this might be.

£70 pair of Firetrap jeans on ebay for £13, and they actually fit and look good
Primark jeans on ebay that I thought were like some I used to have but are actually horrible and don't fit - going to the charity shop tomorrow
Three more sports bras because the coloured print ones I've liked for ages were reduced

a bit of a bargain...

i bought these
Hampton_Tan_Brogue_Commando_Sole.jpg

and these..
Hampton_Brown_Brogue_Commando_Sole.jpg

for £103 for the pair (of pairs).

i'm very, very impressed. i've got Loake shoes and Barker shoes (all many, many years old..), and while these aren't quite Loakes or Barkers (£250 a pair, and not a pair of pairs..) they are easily comparable to the Barbour Ilkley (£140 a pair). very sturdy and very comfortable once you've worn them in a bit. i've had them 3 weeks now, and as far as i'm concerned i've got £350 worth of shoes for a hundred notes.

sizing has been a bit of an issue with the dark brown ones (yes, they are that colour - it's surprisingly nice, the picture doesn't do it justice) - i sent the first pair back as too small, but the bloke is fantastic, utterly honest, and paid all postage for the swap. both shipments arrived in 24hours.

http://www.gentlemen-prefer-brogues.co.uk/ they're in Weston-Super-Mare if you don't want to do the internet shopping thing..

oh, ok. it doesn't feature any rude pics (although I do have a tom of finland shirt upstairs somewhere). Just the only info I could find about the maker (Vince of London) suggests it's connected to a beefcake photographer of the 1950s.

anyway, what do we think?

love the top! Possibly because you said homoerotic, it made me think of this - although I want to take black marker pen to the picture and scribble some hair on it..

These slippers, for my mum's christmas present, I'm wondering if they're whimsical enough for her.

I like it, though I think you look more like an imprisoned French homosexual thief, Jean Genet-stylee ;)
