I've never bought a coat. Good ones are too expensive and cheap ones are crap or make me look like a bouncer nor are too warm.
I'd stick it on a Pinterst board with the other contenders and ponder it for a week, if it's perfect then you should get it regardless of whether it's £175. But you're not 100% sure so you probably shouldn't get it. If you give yourself a week to think about it you'll probably find a good alternative
I wouldn't pay £175 for a coat from Collectif, tbh. I thought twice about getting my latest coat, which is a classic camel one from Jaegar (via TKMaxx) at £119.
Placket aside, it's badly cut if the hem at the back is higher than at the front.Oh ffs - i was just going to buy the short black one and i saw this style abortion on the back:
<snip> the placket with the eyelets is sewn on, but it's not likely to come off without fucking the coat up, is it?
Way ahead of you (well, about a minute and a half). Just put a bid on a leopard swing coat on ebay.Go and get yourself a fake fur from TK Maxx.
ooh, that is a pretty shape and collar and colour, but more than one review mentions the arms being disproportionately tight, and that's my most disproportionately massive bit (even more than my boobs). I can size up for the arms but then i'd lose the benefit of the small waist/full skirt thing... will see how the ebay thing goes. There's 20% off this at the mo - not brilliant reviews, but there never are on Simply Be It looks a bit thin, but it's vintage shaped.
Ah ffs, I trawled a stretch of charity shops today and completely forgot I've been looking for a coatMy charity shop haul today consisted of a Zara black fine knitted top and a Nicole Farhi black silk blazer with mother of pearl buttons. Also, not for me but for wolfie, an arran jumper from Lakeland Sheepskin.
Just reading the above makes me a bit scared that we are getting a old and SAFE
I will wear my new silk blazer with ripped jeans and leopard print DMs
Get back into the fray tomorrowAh ffs, I trawled a stretch of charity shops today and completely forgot I've been looking for a coat
That's gorgeous sparklefish, not boring IMO. Get the grey, it's nicer with the gold detailing (and I'm a camel fan). Matchy match be damned
They're lovely, not dull at allI'm looking for a coat too. I'd chosen a couple of duffle coats off ASOS but they're both out of stock. I tried on a coat in Tesco today but it's really unflattering, impractical and pink. I loved it.
I've now chosen another. They have it in grey and camel. I prefer the grey but my husband has a grey duffel coat so I can't have it as its too similar.
They're really dull aren't they?
But how do you keep warm in the winter? Lots of layers?I've never bought a coat. Good ones are too expensive and cheap ones are crap or make me look like a bouncer nor are too warm.
It's never that cold so a jumper and a hoodie usually suffices. I do have a coat that my ex-boss gave me cos he thought I was gonna catch my death (old wives' tale), but I only wear it if it's well below and snowing as it's too warm for other times. Doesn't have a hood either and is a bit bouncery. I once saw a peacoat I liked but it was £300.But how do you keep warm in the winter? Lots of layers?

Perfect. I also find fake fur coats are on the generous side, size-wise.
Gotcha. Not ultra cheap (£48) but it's M&S collection range, and so should be reliable sizing, reaonable quality and hopefully not a frumpy cut.
