Quite a plain black pencil skirt from M&S - but fits perfectly round the waist and hips, which is no small feat for me, so I love it :D

I have exactly the same problem with pencil skirts. I really want a lace one.

where's it from, chick?

Well,

it's from the Pearl Lowe line for Peacocks but it more or less sold out straight away (i even emailed peacocks but they said sorry there are no more)...............by chance i was mooching on ebay and discovered quite a few of them about, much more than the original £45 and only a few size 18's..............after watching a couple and deciding it was too expensive i had a wibble and thought 'fuck it'...............

actually i'm glad i caught you spangles......how much meterage would i need to make a very basic net petticoat (bearing in mind my sewing is crap) ?

Discovered that dark reddy brown lipstick makes me look like I'm hiding gats for my Mara Salvatrucha boyfriend, so I bought some.

Also bought some Timbs because they're the only things that didn't make me slide slide slippety slide all over the place and fuck my ankle again when it was icy, but it all adds up to a good look.

no idea lovey. i tried twice, but it's a fucker of a job. infinitely easier to buy - the effort saved worth the cost... there
are some quite cheap ones on ebay.

edit - lovely frock anyway - tho sadly not in my size.

What do people think of this? :hmm:

i'd be wary of the length. anything below the knee looks frumpy on me, yet looks "vintage" (in a good way) on other people

i'm not the best judge with those model pics. otherwise, i like it, nice 40s shape.

Well it doesn't help that she's hitching it up in the picture. And is presumbably quite tall herself.

In other news, I bought a floaty shirt with birds on it from New Look yesterday. First thing I've purchased from there in ages but I couldn't resist the birds.

I bought a silk floral shift dress from warehouse in the sale this morning. I wasn't sure about it on the hanger but thought i'd try it on and it was great - fitted perfectly and pretty flattering. A properly uplifting purchase - may wear it for the christmas party I'm going to tomorrow.

Saw what looked like a brand new Dashiki in the charity shop today. Was really tempted but I am not sure my marriage could have taken it :(

It's lovely...another Pearl Lowe for peacocks that's hard to get hold of !

eta

my dress has arrived and i'm in love with it....pics to follow when i'm dressed up properly !

i got a lovely vintage 50's fitted, knee-lenth, high-neck dress from paper, dress vintage. needs to be fitted. way more expensive than i thought it would be (failed to look at label before taking to till) but am thinking, hell, i'm worth it (or something). is patterned with a kinda burnt orange and green "retro" print. i hope it looks nice when altered

I bought this dress but now I get it home I really don't think it fits me at all well round the boobs so am going to take it back I think. http://www.evans.co.uk/webapp/wcs/s...oryId=209427&sort_field=Relevance&pageSize=20

The reason I bought it was that (a) it was reduced to £20 and (b) the black lace dress that I was going to wear for Xmas parties etc I think I am now going to wear to the funeral of a good friend and am not sure I will want to wear it for parties in the same two weeks.

It's (the black one) a really nice dress which is why I want to wear it to the funeral, but also makes me think maybe I should wear something else in case it's forever spoiled for me. I have another dress I could wear to the funeral... it's just not so nice. Dunno... what do people think?

Also bought a black cashmere cardigan for general purposes and because I suspect the funeral will be cold. And because I really, really needed to have a spending spree.

i agree the fit isn't great rubes. myself i'd keep the lovely lace dress for parties and wear the not-so-nice for the funeral. really no-one notices what you wear for a funeral (although i still kick myself for wearing red to a memorial service when everyone else was in sombre colours... ) i don't think you'd find you associate the cardi so much with the event, so i'd go with that. sorry about your friend :(
