I have not succumbed to the onesie either, thank God. I did buy a Uniqlo heat tech lounge dress though, which I wear as a nightie. It's stripey and very toasty. I think they do PJ bottoms too.

I'm about 5 pages behind but I WILL HAVE MY SAY ANYWAY.

With gas prices going up a onesie is practically an essential addition to any homewear lounging wardrobe.

Does anyone know where to get short wide ones?

e2a: ok, it seems like the last five pages have been all about onesies anyway. :D

I was looking for a short one for my mum ( whether she wants it or not )...but dont think they do them. However if you go for one without feet, they have cuffs at the bottom and can be shoved up as high as you like. If footless is the avenue you cruise, may i suggest you invest in a fluffy sock affair, to tuck the onesie leg in to eliminate draughts. And you hit the nail on the head re the gas prices.

I'm thinking of getting this from santa at christmas then buying the gidgets various animal ones so we can run round in them together. :D

I'm currently wearing black & white striped leggings & a black TOY t-shirt (a band) with black socks and black slippers with cat ears on..this is standard house wear for me however onesies do have their place in a cold house despite having dis-robe to the toilet. I was given a owl onesie last xmas which has had about 6 outings due to being cold/ill. If it was me buying a onesie then it would not be animal shaped but similar to the one Soj bought. I'm not a huge onesie fan but they do help you to keep warm more than a slanket/blanket/leggings combo etc...anything that keeps the heating bills down gets a thumbs up from me.

TBF a slanket is probaby more practical than a onesie on account of the toilet problems mentioned earlier. That said I'd probably wear something under the onesie anyway.
They are shite - pre onesie i was actually the recipient of a slanket ( in a putrid lilac) from an aunt. She must have got a deal by getting a job lot, because a few of us suffered that Christmas. They look great in the photo ....they look like they pop on over your head and you waft around cosy and snug....the hell you do! The name slanket is a clue - in reality they are just a sodding blanket with two sleeves shoved half way down, so when you stand up you're all gaping at the back, because in essence there is no back - like a hospital gown....so you have to be fully clothed or not averse to a wind whistling around your nether regions . Their only, and i say that halfheartedly, purpose is as a blanket to chuck over your fully clothed body, when on a sofa....hence all the photos show said pose - you never see anyone watering the house plants or feeding the cat in them do you?

In disgust at it's total non-usability, i cut the arms off, because it then makes a spare fleecy blanket, should anyone stay and not mind two holes half way down the blanket - keeping them on was a nightmare , no sensible way to fold the thing....always looked a heap...it is just 100% wrongness.

The closest I have come to a onesie is a boiler suit, and that's the way it will remain until I am no longer capable of rational thought, and someone else has to dress me. At a time where peoples' homes are better insulated, and kept at higher temperatures than ever before, there is no excuse for this abomination. It's a sign of the creeping infantilisation of the population, along with sucking milky froth through the nipple of a takeaway coffee cup whilst walking down the street, and the wearing of squishy cushioned footwear.

Come the revolution, I will be wearing fierce tailoring and stern boots around the house.

Oh and one more onesie post - Mountain Warehouse do them in different sizes, but not mad patterns.

I was in a mountain warehouse yesterday they had some of the veloury ones and some of the proper cat-licked fleecy ones reduced to £30. I didn't buy one though. £30 still seems steep. I've not really been pricechecking though.

Yeah I got a putrid lilac slanket for Christmas about two years ago.
I was quite pleased at the prospect but you're right, they're just wrong. There is no way of getting them to sit/lay right on you. All bunched up under your chin but your arms and bottom/back still get draughty. Normal blankets are much nicer, or a poncho
I would quite like a onesie but I can't afford the one I want :(

Aye - I was initially attracted to the idea of a slanket, but those sleeves make it completely fucking pointless. And dangerous - given my propensity for hooking sleeves onto door handles as I walk past them.

As clicker pointed out, the onesie allows no warmth to escape. You'd have to have a slanket with stormcuffs, ideally.
