I've ordered a couple of dresses and a cardi from Bonaparte, who I've not heard about before, and they seem to have some lovely stuff in the catalogue but not much in stock. :hmm:

am thinking about buying these:

but not sure if they're a bit young for me  or just hideous :(

I am shit at shopping!

Went and did some more clothes shopping to try and remotivate myself about losing weight. On the way there I saw a woman about my age wearing a black miniskirt and a long wrappy cardigan with opaque tights looking great, went straight off and bought the same thing, like a sheep.

This was the skirt, which is not really that peculiar shape but straight up and down: http://www.evans.co.uk/webapp/wcs/s...category_rn=69510&productId=1361248&langId=-1

The cardigan was horribly expensive and I ought really to get buyer's remorse and take it back, but it's too cosy and nice and I'll clearly wear it all the time:

It is indeed a good look together, well, I think so anyway, better than these photos suggest. I tried on a miniskirt a while back and liked it, but was too worried about sitting down decently to buy it - but the long cardi is a great solution.

Whilst looking at cardigans with a view to their bum-hiding abilities, I was looking at some boyfriend-type cardigans and suddenly had an 80s flashback - we did genuinely wear those sort of cardigans in the 80s, except that we bought real men's V-neck lambswool cardigans from M&S in the largest size. I used to live in those because they let us wear them at school if they were navy blue. Then when I became a goth I went into black ones. I wore them all till they were just a series of interconnected holes and my mother threw them away :(

Looks like M&S still make them too: http://www.marksandspencer.com/Blue...ge=&mnSBrand=core&rh=n:43543030,p_94:Cardigan I would always buy these over the women's fashion version because they're far superior and it's not like the fit matters.

It also made me realise why I'm so unimpressed by a lot of what's in the shops at the mo, eg all the checked stuff - of course it's because I've seen it all before, 20 or 25 years ago. It's pure essence of Bananarama.

Ruby? Are you me? :hmm: I just cant bring myself to repeat what I wore in my teens :D

I loved those jumpers for school and I have recently bought a cardi from simply be, but its more like a wrap and I love it. Its my new fave thing...

Primark has some long v neck lambswool cardis in at the moment - for once the sizes seem to come up big so I reckon you could go down a size in them. I bought a black one and a purple one and I might go back for the red one........

Went to the Pilgrim outlet shop and got 2 pairs of earrings, 2 necklaces, a brooch and a bracelet for £30.

On sat I bought:

a pair of stripey over the knee socks and a pair of spotty over the knee socks to cycle in
Pair of pinstripe tights  and some grey sorta cable knit tights
Pair of blokes camo cargo shorts (again to cycle in)
Pair of winter shorts - dunno how else to describe them other than trousers that have been cut short to above the knee? Going to wear them with some thick black tights and high, high heels

Ooh, and a little gold swallow necklace.

good haul lady :D

I think your shorts might be described as city shorts. and I think stella might kill you for having some :hmm:

Oh, I didn't notice you were talking about me

I was in the PRO camp re: city shorts. It's bootcut jeans I have the problem with

I bought some city shorts as well. They are grey tweed and from Gap. I will be wearing them with thick tights and ballet pumps or ankle boots.

I got a lovely pair of tweed city shorts in urban outfitters the last time I lost loads of weight. and I'm pretty sure I got rid of them when I put the weight back on. and now I'm losing weight again and want them back

Another unsucessful work clothes shopping trip but fruitful in other ways:
2 pairs knee high socks and 6 pairs bamboo socks
2 long tshirt dress/ tops
a light grey boyfriend cardigan
a long blue jumper with sequinned shoulders
brown leather gloves.

I went off yesterday to spend my £40 of DP vouchers and could find nothing. I did get a nice pair of blue and black leather gloves from Debenhams though.

What's a bloody grandad cardy? I've only just worked out that a boyfriend cardy is just a cardy. Still no idea what boyfriend jeans are... they're just jeans aren't they?

That's what we used to call the long men's cardis that we lived in from M&S.

ok... but boyfriend cardigan and boyfriend style jeans, are actually women's clothes? I don't read the magazines that tell you this stuff :D

Yes. I will lend you a copy of Grazia one day so all these mysteries can be revealed. ;)
